Every MCU Movie Ranked From Worst to Best (According to CinemaScore)

Captain America’s Daring New Journey

The film, Captain America: Brave New World, produced by Marvel Studios, encountered some rough patches as it received a B grade on CinemaScore – marking the lowest score in the 35-film Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite this mixed reception, it managed to claim the top spot at the box office with an impressive $100 million domestic opening over the extended Presidents Day weekend. Additionally, it raked in another $92 million from international markets, bringing its global total to $192 million. This places it fourth in terms of weekend earnings domestically, trailing behind 2018’s Black Panther ($242 million), 2016’s Deadpool ($152 million), and the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (projected to earn $120 million).

Despite receiving CinemaScore grades comparable to less popular Marvel adaptations such as the 2003 Hulk and 2008 Punisher: War Zone, which is the lowest-grossing Marvel movie ever, and having a third-worst Rotten Tomatoes score for the MCU (with a 50% “rotten” rating, it’s only above Eternals’ 47% and Quantumania’s 46%), its verified audience score (Popcornmeter) is 80%. This score places it on the lower end for Marvel Studios, similar to Quantumania (81%), but on par with The Marvels (80%).

A variety of comic book movies, like “Howard the Duck” (1986), “Hulk” (2003), “Hellboy” (2004), “Punisher: War Zone” (2008), “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” (2014), “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” (2019), “The Crow” (2024), and “Venom: The Last Dance” (2024) have been met with a B grade by audiences. Similarly, the CinemaScore for “Captain America: Brave New World” is lower than that of many other movies often criticized, such as “Steel” (1997), “Daredevil” (2003), “Elektra” (2005), “Green Lantern” (2011), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), and “The Flash” (2023), all of which also received a B grade.

Keeping this thought process, let’s arrange each Marvel Cinematic Universe film based on their CinemaScore grades, from poorest (B-) to finest (A+). In cases where a movie shares the same grade, we’ll rearrange them using audience scores or Popcornmeter ratings, starting from worst to best.
