Everything coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 Reloaded— New maps, limited modes, Ranked play, patch notes and more

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that this latest update for Call of Duty: Zombies is truly something to behold. The sheer number of tweaks and additions they’ve made is nothing short of impressive, particularly for those of us who have been following the game since its inception.

While I’ve always said that The Haunting is my favorite Call of Duty event, I can’t deny that CODmas is really high up there, as well. The Call of Duty team goes out of its way to bring just the right amount of festive cheer and gory mayhem together. It’s looking like this year is going to be a good one for us CODmas fans. The events will be stacking up during Season 1 Reloaded, and there are plenty of other new additions and gameplay changes to cover, so let’s get right to it.

Black Ops 6 Season 1.5 — Release date and time

After nearly a month, we’re now in the middle of Season 1, which means it’s time for an update! Exciting additions like new maps, temporary game modes, and significant changes are coming to Black Ops 6 and Warzone during Season 1 Reloaded. The update will be launched simultaneously across all platforms on Thursday, December 5 at 9AM PT/12 PM ET.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 Reloaded — Multiplayer changes

3 maps are being added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during Season 1 Reloaded. One of these is a popular map, Hacienda, which has been revamped for a fresh experience. Additionally, two new maps, Racket and the festive Nuketown Holiday version, will also be introduced.

Remastered map: Hacienda

Enthusiasts of Black Ops 4 will find themselves comfortably immersed in this lavish battleground. The Hacienda map, once highly favored, has been revamped and revitalized for its comeback in Call of Duty during the Season 1 Reloaded update for Black Ops 6. This vineyard estate boasts a gallery and terrace, offering chances for some fun underwater escapades. The Terrace overlooks the vineyard, initially presented in the Twilight variant within Black Ops 4. Intense close-quarters battles can unfold in the showroom, and let’s not forget the grand office adorned with a colossal aquarium, not to mention the fountain serving as the centerpiece.

New map: Racket

Small maps are my favorite stomping grounds, and Racket looks like a delightfully tiny nightmare. This 2v2/6v6 Strike map is set inside a bank vault, but you’re going to be a little too pressed for time to grab some of the gold that’s lying around. Since this is a strike map, there won’t be any kill streaks available here, you’re going to have to get those kills on your own accord. Good luck!

Map variant: Nuketown Holiday

Hey there! Look at that, it seems like the holidays are upon us! Nuketown has been beautifully adorned with garlands, twinkling lights, snowmen, and snowballs for a fun fight. Have you been naughty or nice this year? But remember, someone’s going to take a shot at you from the greenhouse window, regardless!

New limited mode: Ran-Snack

In this game setup, you’ll encounter a revolving container filled with scrumptious holiday goodies that have spilled out due to a fall involving the Operators and an enemy cookie box. Your objective is to gather these treats. Stow cookies in your own storage for some tasty advantages such as increased movement swiftness, quicker reloading, and faster health restoration. The team amassing the highest score when time elapses or achieves the set score limit first will emerge victorious. This gameplay mode becomes active at Season 1.5’s debut on December 5.

New limited mode: Infectious Holiday

Instead of being limited to spooky settings like The Haunting, zombies are set to appear in festive attire this upcoming holiday season, offering a cheerful twist on Infected. This fun-filled version is scheduled to debut towards the end of the season.

In addition to Ran-Snack and Infectious Holiday game modes, you’ll find snowballs scattered across the map that allow for immediate eliminations when thrown. However, be cautious not to mistake either the yellow or pink snowballs for something else edible.

New perk: Shrapnel Radar

In Season 1, a brand new perk called Shrapnel Radar is set to join the armory as a community-earned reward during the Merry Mayhem event. This perk will highlight injured enemies on your map if they’ve been hit by explosive damage from various sources such as lethals, tacticals, and field upgrades that cause area effects.

New wildcard: High Roller

If you truly adore extended score streaks, this wildcard is tailored just for you! It offers the unique opportunity to add a fourth kill streak to chase in Core 6v6 Multiplayer battles. Combine it with Assassin, Dispatcher, and Bankroll for an intense onslaught, or opt for Strategist for bonus XP to swiftly reach those streaks.

Black Ops 6 Season 1 Reloaded — Zombies changes

The massive Season 1 Reloaded update, designed for zombie enthusiasts, is coming soon! A fresh map, named Citadelle Des Morts, will debut alongside numerous other features such as new gear, a unique perk, auxiliary weapons, and lots more. Here’s some extra information about when and how you can play the Citadelle Des Morts map. Initially, only the primary questline will be accessible starting December 5th. However, players must hold on until Season 2 to experience the Directed mode.

New map: Citadelle Des Morts

The fortress known as Citadelle Des Morts boasts a troubled past that dates back to 750 A.D., when it functioned as a leper colony managed by a Benedictine monastic order due to an outbreak of a severe, extremely contagious disease. During the period between 1137 and 1220 A.D., construction took place on the site to erect a fortress under the supervision of Queen Adelaide of Murienne. By 1314 A.D., this fortress served as the final refuge for certain relics, the details of which remain shrouded in mystery, that had been entrusted to the surviving members of the Knights Templar.

In the year 1533, Avalon, previously known as Citadelle Des Morts, was declared independent by a Papal decree and came under the authority of a prominent family called the French Syndicate. During World War II, Avalon managed to stay neutral, but unfortunately suffered damage from errant air strikes. The internal areas were particularly affected. Since then, the French Syndicate has been utilizing the Citadelle for illicit activities and hiding troublesome matters. Now, Zombies have marked Avalon as their next destination in search of the Sentinel Artifact.

New enemy: Doppelghast

The Doppelghast, often referred to as “double terror”, is a troubled specter retaining faintly human features despite its two heads. This ominous being is draped in gristle and pallid gray skin that clings tautly over twisted tendrils and decaying organs, barely hidden beneath the rotting flesh.

New wonder weapon: The Bastard Swords

In Black Ops 6’s Zombie mode, Bastard Swords have just been introduced as the latest powerful weapons, each one having four distinct elemental versions. These swords are heavy-duty melee weapons capable of slicing through the most gruesome zombies. They also provide a defensive move for parrying and can shield against incoming projectiles. Each elemental variant comes with its unique special attack and ongoing passive effects that grow stronger over time.

  • Caliburn: Dragon’s Fire
    • Create a fiery maelstrom of burning undead flesh, setting zombies alight and summoning an immense fireball.
  •  Durendal: Stag of the Storms
    • Summon thunderous power from the skies, discharging voltaic power to stun and stagger, before an electrical beam serves up a severe searing.
  •  Balmung: Raven’s Shadow
    • Cast your rotting foes into the Aetherial abyss, warping nearby enemies with a focused liminal tear.
  •  Solais: Lion of Light
    • The warmth of Light courses through you as you send foes screaming into darkness.

Additional content

  • Oil Trap: A medieval method of dissuading attackers storming the outer parapets, overturning huge vats of boiling oil atop a battlement onto a horde of advancing zombies has the exact same end results, made even more potent if a Molotov Cocktail is thrown into the mix…
  • The Lion Cannon: A giant, ornate bronze lion cannon on a large rotating cog platform dominates the outer battlements of the fortress and provides a spectacular means to enter the keep. What would happen if you climbed inside it?
  •  Syndicate Loot Crates: Evidence of the presence of this group can be seen as you explore the citadel, as they’ve marked some specific crates for their own uses. Those of an inquisitive nature may wish to investigate.
  • Points of Power: Strange, metallic manhole covers have been discovered in various locations across the map, but none of them seem to lead to any kind of sewer system. Instead, they appear to have another, perhaps otherworldly use…
  •  Additional: Expect a fresh selection of Calling Card Challenges, including Dark Ops Challenges, as well as Intel in the form of Audio Logs, Documents, and Artifacts to discover, throughout your exploration of the Citadelle des Morts.

New perk-a-cola: Vulture aid

In Call of Duty Black Ops 6, players might recall Vulture Aid, making a comeback in Citadelle Des Morts through Perk-A-Cola machines. Vulture Aid enhances the types of items enemy combatants drop, allowing you to gather essence vials and minor ammo packs. You can obtain Vulture Aid from its corresponding Perk-a-Cola Machine on Citadelle Des Morts or via the Der Wunderfizz machine in Liberty Falls and Terminus. Additionally, players can investigate related augments for this feature.

  • Major augments
    • Fetid Upgr-aid: On death, zombies have a chance to create a gas cloud that charges your Field Upgrade.
    •  Smell of Death: On death, zombies have a chance to create a gas cloud that conceals you while standing in it.
    •  Parting Gift: Vulture Aid ammo drops give more ammo to Wonder Weapons.
  • Minor Augments
    • Condor’s Reach: Auto-pickup loot from farther away.
    • Carrion Luggage: Critical kills have a chance to drop extra Salvage.
    • Picky Eater: On death, zombies have a higher chance of dropping your current equipment.

New ammo mod: Light mend

Players who assume the role of healers in Zombies games often go unnoticed yet are crucial to the team’s success, and they tend to have less equipment compared to others. However, this is set to change with the introduction of a new ammo mod called Light Mend in Season 1 reloaded. Equipping this mod allows bullets to inflict light damage, with the possibility of transforming an enemy’s health into healing symbols that can be transferred to an injured teammate nearby. This feature will function across all three Zombies maps and is accessible as an upgrade using salvage at the Arsenal. Light Mend can also be enhanced through various upgrades:

  • Major augments
    • Antibiotic: The healing glyph now damages enemies that touch it, but its lifetime is reduced.
    •  Big Game: Light Mend can activate on Elite enemies, dropping three more healing glyphs.
    •  Dual Action: Consuming a healing glyph will temporarily allow you to heal faster.
  • Minor augments
    • Longer Life: The healing glyph’s lifetime is increased.
    •  Extra Strength: The healing glyph replenishes more health when consumed.
    • Express Remedy: Increase the range that the glyph will move to an ally.

New field upgrade: Tesla Storm

With the latest update, the Tesla Storm electric current courses through you, linking you to your teammates by an electrical bond. This connection stuns and disables any zombies in between, acting as a powerful defense mechanism. Here are some modifications you can apply to the Tesla Storm field upgrade, which you can include in your loadout for all three Zombie maps:

  • Major augments
    • Transformer: The field’s damage is increased by the number of allies that are connected.
    • Shockwave: On activation, stun and damage all nearby enemies.
    • Static Discharge: On activation, create a lethal surge of electricity around you.
  • Minor augments
    • Power Grid: Increase the range the electric tether can connect to allies.
    • Overclocked: Your movement speed is increased during Tesla Storm.
    •  Lithium Charged: Increase Tesla Storm duration.

New gobblegums

Three new gobblegums are coming to Zombies with Season 1 Reloaded:

  • Power Keg (Rare): Spawns a Full Power Power-up.
  •  Time Out (Ultra): Lasts three minutes. Clear all Normal and Special enemies and end the Round. Normal spawning will not resume during this time.
  • Holiday Cheer (Whimsical): Zombies have festive decorations.

New training course: Zombies

In the initial game, we’re not all expert zombie speedrunners. To assist players in getting a hang of things, a new training course will be added upon the release of Season 1 Reloaded. Head over to Liberty Falls and hone your skills at different stations to enhance your zombie-fighting techniques.

  • Killing Zombies: Learn how to kill zombies and replenish resources.
  • Map Progression: Learn how to navigate the world and progress rounds.
  • Powering Up Players: Buff your strength and survivability with Perks and Armor.
  • Powering Up Weapons: Increase your lethality with weapon upgrades.
  • Getting New Weapons: Discover methods to acquire new weapons.
  • GobbleGums: Learn how to use GobbleGums for unique power-ups.
  • Exfil: Learn how to exit a match.

Additional Zombies updates

As a researcher involved in this project, I’m excited to share that we’re making some tweaks to the zombie mechanics based on valuable player input. Here are the key adjustments:

  • Reducing the number of Mangler spawns at mid-to-high Rounds.
  • Implementing a maximum cap on active Manglers in the game, ramping up until the cap is released at Round 100.
  • Reducing the Mangler’s arm cannon health.
  • Significantly reducing the length of Special Rounds by reducing the number of spawns and adjusting the spawn delay rate for Special Rounds.
  • Scaling Parasite damage between Rounds 31-91.
  • Slightly increasing damage scaling for base zombies at Round 150-400.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 Reloaded — Warzone changes

Despite being located in deserts, neither Urzikstan nor Area 99 is absent from celebrating CODmas.

New limited mode: Holiday Rush (Area 99)

Archie Atom and his team are busily decorating Area 99 in festive style: Christmas trees adorn the halls, and coolers are strategically placed to keep snowballs frosty. Holiday Rush brings a more exciting Resurgence experience, with players receiving faster access to top-tier loot, a reduced gas circle, and shorter intervals between circle collapses, ensuring everyone stays active. The Holiday Rush event kicks off at the start of Season 1 Reloaded on December 5.

Returning limited mode: Slay Ride Resurgence

This year in Urzikstan, Santa who’s come back from the dead is here to celebrate Codmas! Players can engage in combat to seize command of a hijacked train filled with loot from the Slay Ride. They can also toss snowballs at rivals, capture trees for additional gifts, pursue reindeer, and so much more! As usual, the team that’s left standing takes the victory.

New perk: Reflexes

In Warzone, a fresh perk called Reflexes (slot 1) is now available, which helps players dodge enemy traps more effectively. When you sprint past explosives, they’ll delay detonation, providing extra time for you to escape danger. Look forward to using Reflexes once it’s unlocked as a Season 1 Reloaded reward!

New mode: Battle Royale Ranked Play

In the new update of Call of Duty: Warzone, Battle Royale on Urzikstan will introduce a competitive Ranked Play mode with Season 1 Reloaded. This means you can now channel all your accumulated effort and emerge victorious to acquire unique rewards. My fellow team member, Richard Devine, has prepared a guide detailing when and how you can participate in this new gameplay experience in Call of Duty: Warzone during Season 1. However, I’d like to draw attention to several alterations that will be implemented in the Ranked Play mode.

To participate in BR Ranked mode, players must finish among the top 15 in Battle Royale or within the top 6 in Resurgence a total of 30 times. Wins from Season 1 will be considered towards this prerequisite, so if you’ve managed a few victories already, you’re all set to jump straight into Ranked. But, if you haven’t met the requirement yet, you’ll have to demonstrate your skills first before joining ranked teams.

The following rewards will be available for Ranked Play on Warzone:

  • Rank Rewards: Reach Gold Rank or higher to earn special Rank Rewards that are awarded the moment you’re promoted into the Rank, instead of at the end of the Season.
  • Win Challenges: Reach Career Win milestones over the course of your Ranked Play career to earn rewards including the base Ranked Operator Skin, Call of Duty: Warzone-themed Weapon Camo, and the “Whisper” Combat Knife Blueprint. These can be completed across multiple seasons.
  • Top 250 Competitor and Top 250 Champion Skin (#1 Overall): Climb to the Top 250 BR Ranked Play leaderboard to earn the “Top Competitor” Operator Skin (Home and Away). The #1 overall player for the season will get the sole privilege of equipping the “Top 250 Champion” Operator Skin.
  • Seasonal Rewards: Each BR Ranked Play Season introduces new Seasonal Rank Rewards to earn. These are only available to be earned during that specific Season. Like the Rank Skins, Seasonal Rank Rewards are awarded as soon as the player is promoted into each Rank, instead of at the end of the Season.

Changes to Skill Rank (SR)

In the past, Ranked Play in Warzone had two separate systems for player progression – Skill divisions and progression rank. Now, these have been combined into a single, unified ranking system. Players can advance through eight ranks by accumulating SR points: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent, and Top 250.

The way we earn skill rank is also being changed, with players earning from their placement and personal elimination performance. Your rank and your opponent’s rank will now determine how much SR you gain from elimination. Beating up on lower-ranked players and Christmas noobs will only get you so far. If you want to make some big leaps up the leaderboard, you’re going to have to go for the big fish.

In the upcoming Season 1 Reloaded, Forgiveness for Losses is receiving some modifications. When advancing to a higher rank, a player now receives three games of loss forgiveness. Importantly, these forgiveness points are only reduced when you actually lose games. Earlier, players could use them even if they were on a winning streak. Additionally, there will be a new rule implemented where each player’s first defeat of the day will be pardoned – consider it as a warm-up session for the day.

At the onset of each fresh season, ranked players typically find their skill rank reset, prompting them to demonstrate their abilities anew before advancing further. The Seasonal Setback has been adjusted to lessen its influence on Warzone Ranked games. From now on, Bronze and Silver-ranked individuals will be exempt from seasonal setbacks and can carry on from where they left off when a new season commences. Gold or Platinum players will be moved back to the initial level of their respective rank, while Diamond players and above will all restart at Diamond 1 in the upcoming season.
