Novo Lake refers to the upcoming series of Intel processors designed for desktop computers and laptops, continuing the traditional “Lake” naming scheme from its preceding models.
The Meteor Lake designation marked a change to a new Intel chip naming scheme, starting with the Core Ultra Series 1 mobile processors. This includes the Core Ultra 7 155H, a processor featured in HP’s highly acclaimed Spectre x360 14 (2024) laptop.
At present, the Arrow Lake lineup encompasses the latest generation of Core Ultra Series 2 desktop processors, including the power-saving Core Ultra 9 285K model. On the other hand, Lunar Lake is the code name for its mobile counterparts, such as the Core Ultra 7 258V found in the impressive HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 (2024) laptop.
As a tech enthusiast, up until now, everything I’ve learned about Nova Lake has been based on conjecture, leaks, and whispers in the community, backed only by an official confirmation from Intel about its codename. However, it seems likely that this future generation will follow the upcoming Core Ultra Series 3 “Panther Lake” mobile processors, with Intel positioning Nova Lake as the Core Ultra Series 4.
Nova Lake -S Xe3 + Xe4+ not /June 4, 2025
It is speculated, as suggested by reliable leaker @jaykihn0 on X, that Intel’s Arc graphics in the Nova Lake-S desktop processors might utilize a mix of the upcoming Xe3 (codenamed Celestial) and its subsequent version Xe4 (Druid) modules within the system-on-chip (SoC). The Xe3 is rumored to be responsible for real-time graphics rendering, while the Xe4 is said to focus on display and media functions.
According to InstLatX64’s reports (on X), it is speculated that the remaining mobile processors will be:
1. Nova Lake-U, designed for low-power devices such as tablets and ultra-portable laptops.
2. Nova Lake-H, optimized for high performance in everyday tasks and productivity applications on standard laptops.
3. Nova Lake-HX, intended for maximum performance enthusiast devices, particularly gaming laptops.
If not, it should be noted that Nova Lake-S and Nova Lake-SK are desktop computers, which may potentially move to a different socket. This is surprising given the recent adoption of LGA1851 by the Core Ultra Series 2. However, no definitive proof has been presented yet, one way or the other. As more facts emerge, this page will be updated to reflect confirmations or denials of past speculations, and to cover any new developments.
When is Nova Lake launching?
Intel Nova Lake processors are rumored to launch in 2026.
