In the month of February, Bravo viewers were taken aback when Brittany Cartwright disclosed that she and Jax Taylor had parted ways following four years of matrimony and almost a decade as a couple.

And now, Brittany has officially filed for divorce from Jax, TopMob News confirmed Aug. 27.
As per court records, Brittany (the mother of three-year-old son Cruz, who is jointly parented with a fellow reality star) has stated that irreconcilable differences led to their separation, which she officially declared on January 24th. Brittany is requesting sole legal and physical custody of Cruz in this new arrangement.
As for what relationship problems ultimately forced Brittany to walk away from Jax?
It was widely believed that Jax’s actions might have been unfaithful, considering his past history with infidelity. On the other hand, some of Jax’s co-stars from “Vanderpump Rules,” such as Scheana Shay and Lisa Vanderpump, have offered their perspectives on what led to the breakup.
In other words, Bravo viewers, having witnessed the unraveling of Brittany’s marriage on season one of “The Valley” this year, were not entirely taken aback by her decision to file for divorce and make their breakup official.
More recently, Jax underwent in-hospital care to address his mental health challenges, as Brittany disclosed the hurtful remarks he made towards her that were aired during the finale of the Bravo series on June 4th. Regrettably, these attempts at resolution didn’t seem to mend the problems within their relationship.

Prior to their marriage, Jax Taylor had an affair with Faith Stowers, a former SUR server, back in 2017 while still dating Brittany Cartwright.

In her statement on March 11, Brittany confessed, “I get the sense that he doesn’t find me appealing romantically, and we haven’t shared an intimate moment together.” Later, Jax echoed this sentiment, saying, “Being married can be really challenging at times.”
Plus, costar Janet Caperna teased in the clip, “There’s a rumor about Jax cheating online.”
However, Jax slammed allegations of infidelity days after the trailer release.
He shared with TopMob News during the March 14 premiere of “The Valley” that there are currently some minor misunderstandings. However, he emphasized that these issues are not indicative of any other problems such as infidelity or deceit; it is simply a matter of communication. He mentioned that we cross paths daily, but the unique aspect is that we don’t share a bedroom. In essence, that’s the only variation.
Contrary to speculations, Brittany clarified that Jax’s infidelity was not the reason for their split, and she revealed the accurate sequence of events leading to their separation instead.
35-year-old shared with TopMob News on March 18 that we had a major disagreement which led me to gather my belongings and leave. Since January 24, I have been residing at an Airbnb.
She mentioned, “I’m taking this action to maintain my mental well-being, and I am confident about my choice to take some time off.”
Regardless of their personal issues, the separated pair concurred on a single point: Their decisions are in the best interests of their 2-year-old child.

Brittany admitted in March that “there’s always hope,” but she just needs Jax to put in the work.
Brittany shared with TopMob that she doubts anyone else will ever love Jax as deeply as she has. Over the years, they’ve been through thick and thin together, and she stands by his side in every situation. If he makes some changes she’s requested, there could be a chance for them to reconcile. However, at this moment, she needs time to focus on herself. She feels empowered by her decision to put herself first, and prioritizing her mental health is crucial for her.
One person who wasn’t so shocked by Jax and Brittany’s separation? Their former SUR boss Lisa Vanderpump.
The former Real Housewife disclosed to TopMob that everyone assumed their marriage wouldn’t endure, she admitted, but she has always been hesitant about jumping to conclusions.
She mentioned that she wasn’t aware of the specific cause, but suspects it might have been related to Jax’s misconduct. Generally, past actions often provide a clue about future actions.

7 months following their split, Brittany formally ended their relationship in August 2024 by filing a divorce petition.
