Todd Chrisley will never forget the day he discovered that he and his wife Julie Chrisley had been granted clemency by President Donald Trump. After serving nearly two and a half years in prison for fraud and tax-related crimes, Todd received the unexpected news from one of his staff members during a press conference on May 30th.
“One of my team members approached me and said, ‘You’ve just been pardoned,'” Todd remembered. “I looked at him in disbelief, and he confirmed it, saying, ‘Yes, really! It’s in the news.'”
The news was indeed widespread, but Todd wanted to verify the information with his daughter Savannah Chrisley, who had been advocating for her parents’ release. When Todd called Savannah, she confirmed the good news: “It’s true! It’s true!” she said.
On May 27th, Savannah walked into Sam’s Club accompanied by her brother, Grayson (who is 19 years old). During this time, she received a call from President Trump, informing them that he was granting pardons to their parents. “I was utterly stunned,” she expressed at the press conference. “I didn’t know what to say, so I started crying. Grayson was with me, and we reacted with disbelief: ‘Oh my God, it’s actually happening!’
Afterward, Savannah journeyed to the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida, to retrieve her father who was discharged on May 28th.
She expressed, “The moment he stepped out, it was such a powerful sensation because the last time I was there, I was sending him off and witnessing him depart.” She continued, “Seeing him approach me, I was a complete wreck. We then left, and it was incredible.”
They promptly returned to Nashville so Todd could reunite with his wife Julie, who also got discharged from the Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentucky that day.
Their son Chase shared with Entertainment Tonight on May 29th, “They both just broke into tears. My dad embraced my mom, and I don’t think he’s let go since – I don’t think he ever will.”
It wasn’t only their family shedding tears of happiness.
Chase added, “It was a beautiful moment. I didn’t truly realize it until they were both back home, and I got to see my mom and dad hug each other. We all hugged each other, cried, and it was a beautiful moment – definitely answered prayers.”
However, Todd confessed that it took him some time to fully accept the reality of his release.
At the press conference, he said, “I woke up the next morning and I was wondering if this is all real. I’m like, ‘This is really happening. I’m home.’ I was grateful for my family to be reunited in the same room, to share a meal together, pray together, and know that we are still fighting this battle together.
After their release from prison, Todd and Julie had been out of sight for the public except for a few social media posts with obscured faces. However, Savannah subtly suggested that her father underwent a significant physical transformation – she referred to him as being in great shape or “JACKED.”
Todd humorously referred to this change as the “BOP glow” during a press conference, but in truth, he acknowledged that his time in prison allowed him ample opportunity for reading and exercising. He worked out with friends every morning from 10:45 to 12.
The evidence of Todd’s new physique was evident on May 29 when he and Savannah visited Nordstrom to buy essential items and avoid the media. Todd jokingly commented that there wasn’t much excitement in watching him purchase underwear, but the 56-year-old took matters into his own hands by posting a selfie on Instagram with Savannah, captioning it as a response to the paparazzi who were following them in hopes of getting the first photo after Todd’s release.
Savannah’s caption read, “To the paparazzi following us looking to pay your bills… here’s your photo.”
Previously unseen by the public since their release from incarceration, Todd and Julie were spotted only in a few social media posts where their faces were concealed. However, Savannah had subtly suggested that her father had undergone a physical transformation – now appearing more muscular or “JACKED”.
At a press conference, Todd humorously referred to this change as the “BOP glow”. In reality, he admitted that while in prison, his days were filled with reading and exercise. Every morning at 10:45 until noon, he and his fellow inmates would work out together.
The evidence of this new physique was evident on May 29th when Todd and Savannah visited Nordstrom to purchase essentials and avoid the press. “I can’t fathom why it’s so intriguing to watch me buy underwear,” Todd remarked at the press conference. ” frankly, it’s just not.”
Desiring to prevent the paparazzi from capturing the first image of him post-prison release, Todd and Savannah proactively posted a selfie on Instagram instead, accompanied by the caption: “To the paparazzi following us in hopes of settling your bills… here’s your photo.
Regarding Julie, it was noted that she made her first public appearance on May 29, running errands, and pictures obtained by Fox News Digital revealed her natural brunette hair had grown out, replacing her previously blond locks.
Chase shared with Entertainment Tonight that his mother is a “beautiful angel,” but her current look is darker. He joked about wanting to return her to platinum blonde, but she seemed uninterested.
However, not right away, as Julie posted a photo on social media June 8 showcasing that she had returned to blonde hair at the age of 52.
Apart from some public engagements, such as Todd’s press conference and his guest appearance on Savannah’s podcast Unlocked, the Chrisleys have found the most joy in spending time at home. During a recent episode of her podcast, Savannah shared that she prepared a feast for the family, including steaks, pasta, salad, and potatoes. Her parents thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the effort. On June 1st, they celebrated Chase’s 29th birthday, with Chase expressing his happiness on Instagram about having his parents at home as the best gift he could ask for.
As for Todd’s current state, Savannah mentioned on her podcast that he remains in good spirits, maintaining his humor and energy just as before. She expressed her gratitude that he is back home. Julie, too, has seamlessly resumed old routines at home, doing laundry, organizing, spending time with Chloe, and catching up with Savannah and Grayson on all the events since she was away. The first morning Julie returned, they spent a cozy morning going through Savannah’s Instagram posts and videos to bring her up to speed on everything that had happened during her absence.
Fans will soon get a chance to follow the Chrisleys when their upcoming docuseries, previously known as “The Untitled Chrisleys Project“, premieres on Lifetime later in the year.
“We’re grateful to have our family back and we’re blessed to be returning to television,” Todd commented at a press conference, defending his and Julie’s innocence. He mentioned that filming resumed as soon as they returned home, stating, “We have a more significant story to share now than ever before.”
In the meantime, continue reading for additional information about the Chrisley family.
Todd Chrisley is the head of the Chrisley family, hailing originally from Georgia in April 1969 and raised in South Carolina. He had his first marriage to Teresa Terry, with whom he had daughter Lindsie in 1989 and son Kyle in 1991 before their separation. Post-divorce, Todd tied the knot with Julie Chrisley (born in January 1973 in South Carolina) in 1996. Together, they expanded their family by having kids Chase, Savannah, Grayson and adopting Kyle’s daughter Chloe. Their journey was marked by trials, such as Julie’s battle with breast cancer in 2012 (now cancer-free).
Todd made most of the family’s fortune through his real estate business before venturing into reality TV, while Julie worked at a bank when they first met. Their life story unfolded on the popular show “Chrisley Knows Best,” which aired from 2014 to 2023 and spawned spin-offs like “Growing Up Chrisley” and “What’s Cooking With Julie?” as well as other media projects such as family members’ podcasts.
In 2022, Todd and Julie were found guilty of fraud and tax offenses, receiving sentences of 12 and seven years in prison, respectively (with him being held in Florida and her in Kentucky). The couple maintained their innocence. However, in May 2025, President Donald Trump granted them pardons, allowing their release from prison.
Lindsie, who was born in September 1989, is the eldest child of Todd and his former wife Teresa. She attended Georgia State University, where she met her ex-husband Will Campbell. They married in 2012 and had a son named Jackson that same year. The reality show “Chrisley Knows Best” premiered two years later.
Lindsie appeared on the show for five seasons, during which viewers saw tension between Todd and Will. She filed for divorce from Will in 2016 and left the show in 2017. In the following years, there was a public rift between her and her family. However, they reconciled briefly in 2022 on crossover episodes of their podcasts.
Unfortunately, their reunion didn’t last long. In March 2025, Lindsie stated on her podcast “The Southern Tea” that she hasn’t seen her father for a while. The following month, she also confirmed her estrangement from her siblings.
In an interview on Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra’s podcast “Cate & Ty Break It Down,” Lindsie explained, “We can coexist in the same space doing the same things without necessarily agreeing or aligning. There’s no hate, no ill will.”
After Todd and Julie were pardoned in May 2025, Lindsie posted on Instagram, “With God all things are possible.
Hey there! It’s me, your biggest fan. Born on the 31st of August, 1991, I’m Kyle – Todd’s eldest son from his marriage to Teresa back in the day. In November 2012, I became a dad to my precious daughter Chloe, who shares her mommy with me, Angela Johnson. However, in 2016, things took a turn when Todd and Julie adopted Chloe.
I made an appearance on just the first season of Chrisley Knows Best (with a brief return in 2021), but my past legal troubles and rollercoaster relationship with my family have kept us in the spotlight. We’ve had our ups and downs, periods of estrangement followed by reunions over time. But I’ve also been open about my personal struggles, including mental health issues and addiction, sharing that I’m clean and sober since 2019.
Fast forward to 2021, and I found myself walking down the aisle with Ashley Nelson, becoming a dad to her two wonderful kids, Haiden and Mackenzie.
As for my relationship with Todd and Julie, I’ve always kept hope alive that we can reconnect once they return home from prison. In an interview with TopMob News in May 2025, I shared my optimism: “I know they can’t wait to get back home and be with family,” I said, “and I’m going to keep hoping for another chance at reconciliation.
Chase Chrisley, Todd Chrisley’s firstborn, entered the world in June 1996 with his mother Julie. He has made appearances alongside his family on the reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best” as well as its spin-off “Growing Up Chrisley,” which he co-starred on with his sister Savannah from 2019 to 2022.
Previously engaged to Emmy Medders, Chase and Emmy parted ways in 2023 after a series of breakups and reconciliations. Later that year, he started dating Jodi Laine Fournerat. Photos of the couple can often be found on his Instagram account, along with pictures of him and his grandmother, Nanny Faye Chrisley.
After Todd and Julie were imprisoned, Chase spoke about how the siblings came together. In an interview with “Extra” in 2023, he shared: “We’ve definitely gotten a lot closer. When you get hit with something like this, I feel like a lot of people either separate and go their own ways or they cling together, which is how we were raised. We’ve clung together and we’re still fighting.”
In January 2025, Chase was arrested in Atlanta on a simple battery charge for allegedly slapping a bar manager after being asked to leave, according to reports obtained by TopMob News. His lawyers stated that the incident had been exaggerated and clarified that “Chase did not assault anyone.”
Apart from his reality TV career, Chase is also an entrepreneur, having launched a candle brand and roofing company.
In August 1997, Todd and his wife Julie gave birth to their daughter named Savannah. During her early years, she participated in beauty pageants and won the title of Miss Tennessee Teen USA in 2016. After that, she appeared on various reality and competition shows like “Chrisley Knows Best,” “Growing Up Chrisley,” “The Masked Singer,” and “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” Savannah is also a real estate agent in Tennessee, the founder of Good Girl RX, and the host of the podcast “Unlocked.”
In her personal life, she got engaged to hockey player Nic Kerdiles in 2019 but split up with him the following year. Tragically, he died after a motorcycle accident in 2023. Afterward, she dated Robert Shiver, but they broke up in April 2025 after about two years together. During the time her parents, Todd and Julie, were imprisoned, Savannah took care of her siblings Grayson and Chloe and advocated for their release.
At the 2024 Republican National Convention, she emotionally shared that the numbers 72600019 and 72601019 meant a lot to her, as they represented her parents’ identification numbers in prison.
After Trump granted clemency to Todd and Julie, Savannah shared videos of their homecoming, one of which read “Reunited and it feels so good.
Grayson, Todd and Julie’s youngest child, came into the public eye when the show “Chrisley Knows Best” debuted in 2014. Born in May 2006, he is currently studying at the University of Alabama and experiences recognition on campus. In an episode of Savannah’s podcast “Unlocked” from February 2025, Grayson shared his experience, stating, “It’s been insane; it’s more than ever happened here.”
Following Todd and Julie’s imprisonment, custody of Grayson and his sister Chloe was granted to Savannah. In a post on Instagram from July 2023, Savannah wrote, “I’m not their mom. I’m not their dad. I’m their sister and I get to love and guide them through life.” She further added, “Being a bonus parent is TOUGH…no one could ever add up to their parents. But these kiddos have shown me so much love, patience, grace, understanding, and appreciation! Helping to raise these two kids is the hardest but most rewarding job I will ever have.”
Savannah’s relationship with Grayson has grown stronger over time. In a post for his 18th birthday in May 2024, she wrote, “Many people look at our situation and think, ‘She saved him,’ but little do they know… YOU saved ME.
Todd and Julie initially became Chloe’s grandparents when Kyle, Todd’s son, had a child with Angela Johnson in November 2012. Later on, they formally adopted her four years later.
On Instagram in February 2018, Julie exclaimed, “My heart! This child brings so much joy to our family. What did we do without you?”
Fans of the reality show Chrisley Knows Best followed Todd and Julie raising Chloe (also known as CoCo), but after they went to prison, Savannah took over as her guardian. On Instagram for Chloe’s 11th birthday in November 2023, Savannah wrote, “Watching her grow has been the biggest blessing of my life… she has QUITE the personality! I wish I had her humor. I wish I had her carefree spirit. I wish I had her heart. She is everything that I hope to be one day! There is not a day goes by where she doesn’t teach me something new. Because of her… we are all better people! I love you sweet girl! KEEP SHINING! NEVER GIVE UP! And ALWAYS KNOW… I AM HERE for YOU!”
After it was announced that Trump granted Todd and Julie clemency, Savannah shared Chloe’s reaction on a May 2025 episode of News Nation. “Chloe seems to still be in shock,” she said. “She doesn’t want to get her hopes up because she feels like something bad might happen. But I’m excited to go and bring my dad home to her.”
Faye Chrisley, affectionately known as “Nanny”, is Todd’s mother. In a heartfelt message for Mother’s Day in 2021, Todd expressed his deep love and gratitude towards her, stating, “I am incredibly blessed that God made you my mother. You fill my heart with love, hope, faith, and confidence.”
Born in September 1944, Nanny spent her childhood in South Carolina. She married army veteran Gene Chrisley, and together they had three sons: Todd, Randy Chrisley, and Derrick Chrisley (who unfortunately passed away as a baby). Tragically, Gene also passed away in 2012.
On the popular TV show Chrisley Knows Best, Nanny became a fan favorite with her wit, fun-loving spirit, and heartfelt advice. Whether she was enjoying a night out at the casino, sipping wine, or spending time with family, Nanny showed viewers how to live life to the fullest.
However, Nanny has faced hardships as well. In 2021, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer, but by 2023, she shared that she had successfully overcome her health battle. On an episode of Lindsie’s podcast The Southern Tea, she shared, “I’m in remission, thank God. I’ve been out moving around, doing the best I can.”
Facing adversity has always been Nanny’s approach to life. As she once said on Savannah’s podcast Unlocked, “The world doesn’t always deal you a good hand of cards, so you play with them as best as you can. You get up, brush yourself off, and keep going.”
