This week’s official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 didn’t bring news of a new Pokemon game, which was a bit disappointing for fans. However, only a new Mario Kart was displayed, so it’s not necessarily a significant setback. Interestingly, a fresh report suggests that a brand-new mainline Pokemon game, tentatively named Pokemon Gen 10, is under development specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The latest leak about Pokemon Gen 10 does not reveal its release date. Instead, it hints that there are indeed two distinct versions of this upcoming generation in development: one for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 and another for the current Nintendo Switch console. This implies that both versions will be available simultaneously, although it seems that the Nintendo Switch version might not delay the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 version entirely.
According to leaks, the Nintendo Switch game is reportedly being developed as “Gai,” while its potential successor is referred to as “Super Gaia.” The codenames hint at possible significant distinctions between the two editions.
The individual who leaked this data is the same one who perpetrated the large-scale data breach at Game Freak in the year 2024, a company renowned for creating the globally popular Pokemon games.
As a dedicated fan, I’m speculating based on some intriguing data that allegedly comes from Game Freak, which they collected last year. However, it’s crucial to approach this info with caution. If the intelligence checks out, it could suggest that we might be getting Pokemon Gen 10 sooner rather than later, as it appears to be planned as a cross-generation release.
