2025 saw an exhilarating sneak peek of Monster Hunter Wilds on January 16th, showcased by IGN. This preview served to fuel anticipation for one of the year’s most eagerly awaited Xbox games and PC games. In this special event, IGN unveiled a fascinating tidbit: a legendary monster from previous Monster Hunter titles, Gravios, will be making an appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds.
This creature is a colossal, winged Wyvern resembling a mobile mountain, sporting legs and an imposing physique encased in a formidable layer of rocky hide. Its hide is so thick that only the sharpest weapons can penetrate it. Moreover, Gravios attacks with the ferocity of an avalanche, pounding the ground with earth-shattering force, and crushing opponents beneath its massive bulk by rolling around.

Apart from that, the creature named Gravios can discharge harmful gases to ward off assailants. These gases range from explosive, sleep-inducing, and occasionally poisonous ones. However, it’s worth noting that Gravios’ deadliest attack is a massive laser beam emitted from its mouth. If your equipment isn’t fortified and offers substantial resistance to fire, this laser blast could obliterate you in an instant.
In IGN’s preview video, you witness the devastating force of Gravios up close. Its explosive assaults come close to claiming the player’s life. Remarkably, the player endures and ultimately defeats Gravios by strategically utilizing environmental traps and a combination of Sword & Shield and Bow weaponry to deliver the final blow.
I can’t wait to see more classic Nimonsters get the RE Engine treatment
One aspect I’m really enjoying about Monster Hunter Rise is the reappearance of classic creatures that haven’t been seen in a while, such as Gypceros, Congalala, and even Yian Kut-Ku, who have all received a stunning modern makeover thanks to Capcom’s RE Engine. This has me curious about which monsters from past Monster Hunter games might reemerge in this title.
Is it possible that we might encounter monsters such as Lagiacrus, Odogaron, Dalamadur, or Yama Tsukami (a monster I’m eagerly awaiting in Monster Hunter Wilds) again? We won’t know for sure until the game releases on February 28, 2025, which is when it will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
During this timeframe, we’ll be preparing ourselves by participating in the second open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds, which is set to occur during the initial part of February. The testing will take place over several intervals.
In the year 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds – a follow-up to one of Capcom’s top-tier Xbox games and PC games, Monster Hunter World – is set to debut on February 28. This new adventure will be available for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and computers using Steam.
