Treyarch recently unveiled a brand-new trailer signaling the start of Season 3 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
The 45-second preview was shared across Treyarch’s official social media accounts and focuses once more on Russell Adler, who is shown puffing a cigar. During this scene, he receives a situation report call from Frank Woods while seated at the Rogue Team’s hideout, which lies on the fringe of Avalon.
In front of Adler stands a table littered with empty bullet shells and various weapons, an envelope labeled “For Adler” and bearing a bloodstained sticky note, along with a small TV equipped with a VHS player.
Through the phone call, Woods clarifies that the objects found on his doorstep were left there following his hospital discharge, but he couldn’t decipher their significance. As the camera sweeps by, Woods inquires, “Did he crack the Pantheon silver bullet case as far back as 1989?” The camera then focuses on a VHS tape sitting on the desk, which bears the label “J. Hudson, November 21st, 1989.
“That old bastard was one step ahead all along,” says Woods.
The return of Jason Hudson (kind of?)
Jason Hudson is canonically dead.
It’s evident that the character hasn’t been hindered from impacting the Black Ops narrative, regardless. Hudson, a CIA special agent, has appeared, been referred to, or mentioned in every Black Ops series installment except for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Interestingly, he was later introduced as a playable character in post-release seasonal content for the game.
In the storyline of Black Ops 2, Hudson met his demise at the hands of the main adversary, Raul Menendez. This event, along with Alex Mason’s death, has been established as canonical by Treyarch. These tragic circumstances played a significant role in pushing Adler into becoming a renegade at the beginning of Black Ops 3.
It’s quite probable that Hudson will reappear as a playable character in both Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6 during Season 3. Yet, instead of a full-fledged return, his comeback might take the form of flashback scenes that are showcased in the opening sequences for Warzone and Black Ops 6.

Ramping up the hype for Season 3
The start date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 has been postponed temporarily due to Treyarch and their CoD team focusing on refining the gameplay and strengthening anti-cheat measures before reintroducing the original Warzone map, Verdansk.
As of April 3, Season 3 is officially underway, and the anticipation for Warzone and Verdansk’s comeback is growing stronger. The latest teaser video gives us a sneak peek at what the new season has in store. Interestingly, Sevati Dumas and her Rogues gang, who have been the main characters for the last two seasons, are nowhere to be seen in this trailer. Instead, it seems that the Call of Duty team is focusing more on familiar, beloved characters for the upcoming season.
Treyarch hinted that they will introduce a new map called Shattered Veil for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode as part of Season 3. Additionally, players can anticipate additional maps, operator packages, weapons, and a fresh battle pass with the upcoming content update scheduled for April 3.
