F1 25 PS5 Pro Enhancements Include Quality, Performance, and 8K Resolution Modes

This week, Codemasters unveils the latest installment in their renowned Formula One racing franchise: F1 25. In addition to My Team 2.0 and the continuation of Braking Point, it introduces some fresh events and gameplay modes. However, what sets it apart is its pursuit of realism, particularly on the PS5 Pro console. How does it stretch the series’ limits in terms of authenticity?

As a devoted fan, I had the privilege of chatting with creative director Lee Mathew, who shared some exciting details about the console’s features. He confirmed three distinct modes: Quality, Performance, and Resolution. The Quality Mode focuses on delivering 4K/60 Hz visuals, complete with real-time ray tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for an immersive experience. On the other hand, the Performance Mode caters to 120 Hz screens by offering a smooth, crisp performance and enhanced clarity due to its increased resolution.

To wrap it up, there’s the Resolution Mode, introduced last year when the PS5 Pro-supported version of F1 24 was launched. This mode operates at a resolution of 8K/60 Hz and offers ray traced dynamic diffuse global illumination (RT DDGI) on tracks. Furthermore, ambient occlusion, reflections, shadow effects, and RT DDGI are visible in cutscenes, Photo Mode, and replays at a resolution of 8K/30 Hz as well.

In addition, the split-screen cooperative mode in F1 25 runs seamlessly at 60 Hz without any reduction in quality. The game is set to launch on May 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, but those who have pre-ordered the Iconic Edition can start playing three days early, on May 27th.
