After a long wait, “Family Guy” is coming back with Season 23 starting later this month, and fans have been treated to a sneak peek of its premiere featuring a spoof of “Top Gun.” Unfortunately, “Family Guy” didn’t come back as many had expected in the Fall 2024 FOX schedule. Instead, it was delayed until FOX’s midseason schedule starting in February. Now that it’s finally returning, fans can look forward to more mischief with the Griffin Family once again.
Beginning this Sunday, February 16th, FOX will air Season 23 of Family Guy, as part of their Animation Domination block during the Winter 2025 midseason schedule. To give you a taste of what’s to come in the premiere episode, FOX has released a new clip featuring parodies of both Top Gun and its sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. The show promises some fun twists as unexpected characters assume roles in these films, hinting at a return that’s sure to be filled with laughter. Take a look at the sneak peek clip in the video above.
When Does Family Guy Season 23 Come Out?
The popular series Family Guy is set to make its return on FOX this Sunday, February 16th at 8:00PM EST. It will spearhead FOX’s Animation Domination block on Sunday evenings, preceding shows like Grimsburg, The Great North, and Krapopolis. This season, it will be filling the time slot that was occupied by The Simpsons last year. Excitingly, The Simpsons will resume its regular time slot from March 30th onwards. Consequently, viewers can look forward to enjoying an array of animated favorites throughout the rest of FOX’s midseason schedule as well. However, forecasting what the new season has in store remains a challenge.
In simpler terms, “Family Guy” can tackle any type of story, and this is especially true in later seasons where the initial plot of an episode often takes a surprising turn to become something else entirely. However, episodes like the “Top Gun” tribute demonstrate that the series also delves deeply into parodying films by creating a more complete and dedicated imitation. For instance, take the “PeTerminator” episode from Season 19, which showcases this entertaining type of concept.
Is Family Guy Still Good?
There’s been quite a discussion going on about whether the popular animated series Family Guy still measures up to its former glory, and this debate seems to intensify with each new season. With Season 23 now underway, many fans of the show find themselves reminiscing about its past and holding it in high esteem. However, it continues to attract new fans year after year, which could be attributed to its airing on no less than four different channels at any given time. Additionally, clips from the series frequently go viral for no specific reason other than fans sharing how amusing they find them.
The show may be a new series, but it hasn’t lost its charm or quality from the early days. In fact, the characters in Family Guy have evolved into caricatures of their original selves, which makes them versatile enough to fit any scenario. This is why they can seamlessly appear in a parody of Top Gun, and still manage to generate humor from both the parody and the characters’ roles, such as Stewie as Val Kilmer’s Iceman. If you’re interested in watching more episodes of Family Guy, they are now available for streaming on Hulu.
