Fan-Favorite AEW Star Earns Shot at International Championship

Next week’s AEW Dynamite will see Konosuke Takeshita putting his International Championship on the line against popular wrestler Orange Cassidy.

Cassidy had been away from TV screens for more than a month, which might not sound like much time to some, but given that he’s a regular on the show Dynamite, his absence felt strange. Notably, he last went head-to-head with Adam Page at AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen.

Tonight’s show featured him going head-to-head against Roderick Strong in a bid for an opportunity. If he manages to conquer Takeshita and claim the AEW International Championship for a third time, he’ll square off with Kenny Omega at the upcoming AEW Revolution in two weeks. After his victory, Tony Schiavone tried to speak with Cassidy, but their conversation was disrupted by Callis and others. While Takeshita, Mark Davis, and Fletcher attacked Cassidy, Omega stepped in to help, only to be stopped by the group.

As a passionate moviegoer, I can’t help but share my excitement about an epic saga that unfolds within the realm of professional wrestling. In its early days, it was known as the All-Atlantic Championship, and in a thrilling match, I managed to claim the title by overpowering PAC. Since then, the name has changed several times, but my first reign stands unrivaled among all 10 champions, with the longest tenure of any contender. In 2023, I reclaimed my throne, and my rule continued until the grand spectacle of Revolution 2024, where, ironically, Strong dealt me a crushing blow and ended my reign.

AEW Revolution: The Card So Far

As a die-hard wrestling fan, I’m pumped about AEW’s signature event, Revolution, taking place at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, California on March 9th! The card is shaping up nicely with some exciting matches announced so far. The much-anticipated showdown between MJF and “Hangman” Adam Page is officially on, following their gripping promo exchange on Dynamite. What makes this feud even more intriguing is that Page seems to be channeling his old self, pre-Swerve Strickland, adding yet another layer of complexity to the rivalry. I can hardly wait!

Moreover, Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher will face off for a fourth time in their rivalry. So far, Ospreay holds a 2-1 advantage over “The ProtoStar.” Their latest victory was against The Don Callis Family at Grand Slam Australia, which has led to these upcoming singles matches.

Previously known as Adam Copeland, Cope is aiming to dethrone current AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and solidify AEW’s control. The ongoing saga between Moxley and Death Riders has stretched on for a while without resolution, but let’s hope this upcoming match brings some unexpected twists.

It’s tough to envision “Timeless” Toni Storm, who has recently become a four-time AEW Women’s Champion, not being part of the upcoming event, given her ongoing feud with Mariah May. Moreover, Momo Watanabe has put forth a challenge for the TBS Championship against Mercedes Mone, and it seems likely that this match will soon be formalized.
