It appears that the filming of the Apple TV+ comedy show titled “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin” has been temporarily halted due to the absence of its lead actor, Noel Fielding, from the set. This story was initially reported by The Sun, and it has since been confirmed by various other sources. Sources close to the production at Big Talk Studios stated that they have dismissed both the cast and crew, suggesting this isn’t a temporary issue. At the time when the news broke, the second season of the show was nearly three-quarters finished, but due to lack of sufficient footage, it seems unlikely that the series will ever be completed and released.
It’s been reported by The Sun that production of Dick Turpin Season 2 took a holiday hiatus and didn’t resume until the start of the new year. Sources claim that actor Timothy Fielding hasn’t shown up to work since then. Neither Apple, Big Talk, nor Fielding’s representatives have responded to inquiries about this matter. It remains unknown why the 51-year-old actor is absent from set. While Fielding frequently uses Instagram, he has yet to address these reports publicly.
The Wholly Imagined Escapades of Dick Turpin”
This title story is a humorous, exaggerated version of the deeds actually performed by historical British outlaw Richard Turpin. In reality, he was a notorious criminal with numerous convictions throughout his brief life, eventually hanged for horse theft in 1739. Despite his checkered past, Turpin has been immortalized as a legend in U.K. folklore and popular culture, where his exploits are often glamorized. However, this comedy takes things to the extreme.
The show garnered positive responses upon its debut on Apple TV+ in March 2024, prompting a renewal for another season in July. Initially, the first season spanned six episodes, but the length of Season 2 remains undetermined. Notably, Fielding not only starred in the series but also served as an executive producer and contributor to its writing.
Back in the late ’90s, I found my footing with the hilarious comedy troupe, The Mighty Boosh. We rocked stages, airwaves, and TV screens with our unique blend of humor. After a decade together, we parted ways in 2009, but briefly reunited in 2013. Since then, I’ve dabbled in stand-up comedy, acting gigs, and even painting exhibitions. Lately, you might recognize me as one of the occasional hosts on The Great British Bake-Off.
Supporters are still reeling from the sudden finish to “The Entirely Fictitious Journeys of Dick Turpin” and are hoping for some clarification soon. As it stands, Season 1 can be found streaming on Apple TV+, but there’s currently no indication that a second season will be produced.
