It’s been disheartening for Netflix subscribers to find out that popular TV series such as USA’s Monk, Syfy’s The Magicians, and New Amsterdam will be removed from the platform this week, leaving viewers in the midst of a binge-watching session high and dry. Starting on Tuesday, all eight seasons of Monk and five seasons each of The Magicians and New Amsterdam will no longer be available. Fortunately, these shows have found new streaming homes, but only one of them offers completely free access.
Both “Monk” and “New Amsterdam” are accessible on Peacock, a streaming platform that offers a less expensive subscription compared to Netflix, albeit with an associated cost. On the other hand, “The Magicians” will soon be available on Tubi, making it possible for viewers to continue enjoying the show without incurring additional subscription fees once it leaves Netflix.
On Tuesday, January 14th, the last day to stream “The Magicians” on Netflix arrives. The very next day, January 15th, the entire series will become accessible on Tubi’s streaming platform. For those unaware, Tubi is a free service that doesn’t demand account registration. Instead, you’ll encounter short ads while watching TV shows and movies, the only “cost” being your time.
Leaving Netflix in January
Regrettably, the series you see listed are merely a handful of the numerous titles set to leave Netflix this month. Already gone from their library are movies such as “Jigsaw,” “65,” and “Focus,” but many more will vanish by the end of January. On January 31st, films like “21 Jump Street,” “We’re the Millers,” and “Zero Dark Thirty” will also bid farewell to Netflix.
