In the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, Joseph Quinn is set to make his entrance, with the character’s appearance in the promotional materials having varied slightly.
The Incredible Four: Initial Exploits presents four significant new Marvel Cinematic Universe characters: Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Invisible Woman/Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), The Thing/Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and the Flame-Wielding Torch/Johnny Storm (Quinn).
In Phase 6 of the MCU, the initial movie presents a unique style distinct from other Marvel Studios productions. This film, titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, is set in an alternate Earth with a retro-futuristic atmosphere reminiscent of the 1960s, a theme that permeates every design and promotional aspect of the production.
Johnny Storm’s New MCU Hairstyle Revealed
A recently unveiled promotional image for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” suggests a different hairdo for Johnny Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but appreciate the captivating artwork that seems to have been inspired by the intriguing puzzle found on Puzzle People, a popular Korean website. This masterpiece showcases all four iconic characters in heroic poses, adopting a stylish retro aesthetic. However, keen-eyed fans like myself might notice a slight variation in Johnny Storm’s hairdo compared to how it appears in the movies, but I find that this small deviation only adds to its charm and uniqueness.
In the poster, Johnny’s hairstyle seems fuller and is styled to suggest a wind-tossed appearance, possibly symbolizing the disheveled style associated with the protagonist’s thrilling aerial exploits.
In the trailers for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” there are some variations from Johnny’s previous appearances where his hairstyle appears less voluminous, covering a larger portion of his forehead. Certain scenes in the footage also suggest that he might be wearing a comb-over on occasion.
Although the new hairstyle isn’t drastic, it embodies a contemporary and messy appearance for Johnny, possibly reflecting his adventurous and carefree character.
There’s some uncertainty about whether Quinn will actually wear this hairstyle in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, or if it’s just for promotional reasons. It could be that he undergoes a transformation fitting for a superhero by the end of the movie.
In the initial promotional materials for “The Fantastic Four”, Johnny sported a style reminiscent of his own, characterized by longer, disheveled hair styled in a casual comb-over. This could suggest that this hairstyle might have been changed during the production process.
What to Expect From Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four: First Steps
For newcomers, it’s important to note that Johnny Storm is the brother of another Fantastic Four member named Sue Storm. Their space voyage granted Johnny with pyrokinetic powers, enabling him to transform into a human fireball, which has been captivating fans based on the film trailers.
A significant aspect of Johnny’s character development in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” remains unclear, but it’s now clear that he will take on a new role as an uncle since Sue Storm is expecting in the film.
In the “Fantastic Four” comics, Johnny Storm is often portrayed as a hot-tempered hero. However, according to Quinn, this character dynamic could change in the upcoming series “First Steps,” where Johnny will be depicted as more humorous and considerate towards others’ feelings.
He exhibits a great deal of swagger, which can be off-putting at times, but he’s also quite humorous. When Kevin [Feige] and I discussed past portrayals of him and the cultural context, we realized that his character was once branded as a womanizer with a careless attitude. However, I don’t believe that image is appealing in today’s society. In this new interpretation of Johnny, he is more considerate towards others’ feelings, and there should be an element of self-awareness about his attention-seeking behavior.
In “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the team isn’t being introduced as origin characters since they are already established superheroes. However, this story presents their most significant challenge yet, propelling them forward into a new phase of heroism and family bonding, leading them directly to “Avengers: Doomsday.
