Shows such as “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, “Adventure Time”, “Gravity Falls” and “Regular Show” have significantly contributed to a new wave of enthusiasm for Western animation. Although numerous shows originated on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, Disney and its channels like Disney XD and the Disney Channel also have their own cherished animated productions that continue to captivate audiences. Among these are “Phineas & Ferb”, “Gravity Falls”, “Kim Possible”, “The Owl House” and “Amphibia”. All of them are exclusive to Disney, but one series might stand out more than the rest. In an unexpected twist, fans of “Star Vs. The Forces of Evil” have stumbled upon the original pilot episode of the show, and it appears quite distinct from what we’re familiar with now.
If you haven’t seen it yet, “Star Vs. The Forces of Evil” is an animated series that made its debut in 2015. It quickly found popularity on Disney XD and the Disney Channel, eventually spanning across four seasons with a total of 77 episodes – surpassing many other Disney shows. With a unique premise that pays homage to anime culture, the show centers around Star Butterfly, a magical princess from an alternate dimension who accidentally ended up on Earth. Despite not appearing in a feature film, Star has become one of Disney’s most beloved characters.
Star Vs. The Forces of Evil: Round 1
Initially known as “Star And The Forces of Evil“, this show looked quite distinct when it first premiered on The Disney Channel compared to its later versions. Interestingly, the series creator Daron Nefcy had initially tried pitching the series to Cartoon Network but found little success there. Fortunately, Disney appreciated the character Star Butterfly and gave her a place in their roster, leading to a four-season run that became a favorite among fans. In the initial pilot, Star was portrayed differently than the heroine animation enthusiasts would come to recognize.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, I stumbled upon the initial pitch episode for the series – back when it was proposed to Nickelodeon. Interestingly enough, Grey Griffin, who later voiced Queen Moon, lent her voice to the character of Star Butterfly in this early version. #StarVsTheForcesOfEvil

A Star Revival?
Unlike “Gravity Falls,” there’s been no chatter about “Star Vs. The Forces of Evil” returning after its 2019 series finale. When it was announced that season 4 would be the last, creator Daron Nefcy expressed that they poured their heart and soul into the grand finale, eagerly anticipating sharing the thrilling end of the series with fans who have stayed loyal throughout this exciting journey.
If you haven’t watched the series yet, it can be streamed on Disney+ and Hulu. This popular franchise, which holds a special place in many fans’ hearts, is described by Disney as follows: “Following some daring battles with extraterrestrial creatures, the joyful magical teen princess Star Butterfly is sent by her parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth. She brings her own distinctive interdimensional flair to her new world.
