Following several months of anticipation, the long-awaited anime adaptation of “The Beginning After the End” has been unveiled, sparking mixed reactions among viewers. While some find Studio A-Cat’s portrayal of TurtleMe’s well-known web novel to be moderately satisfying, others have expressed strong disapproval towards the anime. The second episode, released this week, has drawn particular criticism for its lackluster animation during fight scenes. The discussion surrounding “The Beginning After the End” has become so intense that fans are even initiating petitions for the anime’s cancellation and a complete remake.
The opening episode of The Beginning After the End garnered a moderate response from critics and audiences, earning a 6.7 rating on IMDb, and sparking varied opinions on social media. However, Episode 2, titled “The King, Under Attack,” stirred strong reactions from viewers, with many expressing their dissatisfaction online and taking their displeasure with the series to new heights, as over 10,000 fans have expressed their discontent.
The Beginning After the End Fans Want the Series to Be Remade
A supporter, known as Nachoo TM on social media, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the anime adaptation of “The Beginning After the End“. In response, they initiated a petition on Change.org titled “Call for Cancellation and Redo of the TBATE Anime Adaptation”. Currently, more than 11,000 fans have joined in their appeal.
I, an enthusiastic follower of TBATE (The Beginning After The End) light novel and comic series, am deeply frustrated and dismayed by the subpar quality of the latest anime version. This adaptation not only falls short but is insulting to the original work and its fanbase. It’s a far cry from the grand power fantasy that the originals offer, and it tarnishes the reputation of exceptional fiction.
The petition echoed numerous concerns shared by viewers following Episode 2. Many spectators expressed their displeasure with the animation quality, stating that it resembled a rudimentary PowerPoint presentation on social media. At the conclusion of the detailed post, Nachoo TM called out author TurtleMe, asking for his help.
Is The Beginning After the End That Bad?
It’s quite an accomplishment for the anime adaptation of “The Beginning After the End” to turn so many fans against it in merely two episodes, but is the level of criticism it’s receiving warranted? The validity of a petition calling for the series to be remade is open to interpretation, but compared to some other popular action series this year, “The Beginning After the End” doesn’t seem to reach the same quality standard.
It’s not hard to see why so many enthusiasts were displeased with the adaptation. Given the high-octane action that the series promises in future episodes, the fight quality in Episode 2 left fans concerned about the larger battle scenes that will appear in subsequent episodes. This year has already given us hit anime like Solo Leveling, Sakamoto Days, and Zenshu, so it’s disheartening to see The Beginning After the End delivering underwhelming animated fights. Some viewers are optimistic that the controversy surrounding Episode 2 is just a matter of budget distribution and that the battles may improve in upcoming episodes. However, only time will reveal the truth.
