SNK’s latest Fatal Fury sequel has been out long enough to gauge the current best fighters.
But who is the king of the roster this early into its life, and who is not worth playing right now?
FF City Of The Wolves Tier List
Essentially, I think currently none of the characters in the game are critically weak or unworthy to invest time in. The SNK team has done an impressive job ensuring that every character on the roster is well-balanced and deserving of attention.
In other words, it’s not like Tekken or Street Fighter on day one!
On the other hand, I’ve got a few standout options for quick victories. At the same time, there are certain characters that require more adjustment, or we haven’t quite figured out their strategies yet.
Initially, let’s establish the grading system for S, A, B, and C. At this moment, a few of them appear to be in the C category. However, I want to stress that it’s still early in the game, and their performance can certainly improve. Frankly, there’s a chance that I might be overlooking something with these players, as some rather blunt opponents have suggested my skills are less than stellar.

To kick off our City Of The Wolves Tier List, we’ve placed two champions in the S tier category. Hotaru stands out as a dominant force in this Final Fantasy realm, with an impressive arsenal of projectiles. Her toolkit includes both a slow and fast fireball, allowing her to control the battlefield effectively. Additionally, her anti-air attacks and combos result in massive damage, making her versatile in various situations. Essentially, she excels in every aspect.

In the same vein, Kain shares a resemblance with JP from Street Fighter 6 in terms of playstyle and unique projectile moves, but when incorporated into his Okizeme setups following throw, he transforms into an absolute beast.
Below The Monarchy
For those in the A tier, the well-known pairing of Terry and Rock offers an ideal fit. This duo caters well to players at all levels thanks to their straightforward combo system and gameplay design. Moreover, Terry’s burning punch now initiates on counter hit, providing a delightful opportunity for a bonus victory when successfully landed!
Additionally, Kevin stands out as the top bruiser in the game, delivering powerful knockdowns and precise mid-range attacks.
As a die-hard fan, I’d say my top-tier favorites from the City of Wolves roster are Hokuto, Terry, Rock, Kevin, Gato, Ronaldo, Billy, and Jenet! These characters truly stand out in my book.
Hokuto’s speed is just insane, and he is like Tekken 8 pressure on steroids.
Gato does everything well and is perfect for rushdown playstyles.

Simultaneously, Ronaldo emerges unexpectedly, demonstrating his extraordinary ball maneuvers that involve creating a projectile. This projectile can be utilized for both close-range attacks and defense against airborne opponents, making it exceptionally versatile. Its uniqueness and difficulty to counteract make it challenging to play against.
However, Billy excels in manipulating the playing field using his staff’s functions to move objects both forward and backward on the screen. On the other hand, Jenet possesses unique strategies for managing the screen, characterized by her unpredictable moveset. Notably, she can execute a special attack from behind, which can be interrupted and combined with various button presses.
For some lower-ranked characters, I propose placing them in the “City of the Wolves” tier list. Specifically, these individuals are Preecha, Kim Dong, Ganacci, Mai, and Marco.
Again, B tiers are not bad, but they have room to grow and have a set way to win.

Preecha has lost her mechanical arm from Beta, but she’s still excellent during quick attacks, while Kim serves as a substitute for Hwoarang in kicks. On the other hand, Ganacci is currently hard to comprehend, and both Mai and Marco seem to lack some of their prior strengths from past Fighting Fury games.
However, for the bottom C tier, I give Vox and Tizoc the slots.
Primarily, the challenge lies in making them function effectively because they require precise timing, complex setups involving their grab commands, and a wrestler-like gameplay style. However, it’s worth noting that there is a character named Kevin who exhibits similar behaviors without any complications.
As a fellow gamer, I’ve found that going up against Tizoc without my A-game can lead to some tough losses. It’s no walk in the park, but if you’re willing to pour in the extra effort, even the ‘C’ tier players might just give you a run for your money.
