Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel Trilogy Is Coming to Crunchyroll (& Streaming Very Soon)

As a devoted fan of the Fate franchise who has been following it since its humble beginnings back in 2004, I can’t help but feel like Christmas came early this year! The announcement that the Heaven’s Feel film trilogy will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll is nothing short of exhilarating.

As a die-hard fan of the Fate franchise, I’m pumped to be part of the massive 20th anniversary celebration! One way we can all join in is by catching the Heaven’s Feel film trilogy of Fate/stay night, streaming soon on Crunchyroll. Originating as a visual novel back in 2004, the Fate franchise has exploded into an enormous collection of anime releases, feature films, spinoffs, OVAs, and countless other projects over the years. The original story of Fate/stay night, in particular, has seen its three interwoven narratives adapted into both TV series and film versions. I can’t wait to revisit this epic saga as we celebrate two decades of Fate!

Previously, the final storyline of the Heaven’s Feel path from the Fate/stay night series was adapted into a three-movie series titled Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel] THE MOVIE trilogy. These films started releasing in 2017 and concluded worldwide in 2020. Now, after several years, this trilogy will become available for streaming, as it will join the Crunchyroll library starting on December 19th. You can watch the announcement trailer for this new release by clicking on the video above.

What Is Fate/stay night Heaven’s Feel?

The “Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel] THE MOVIE trilogy” is a complete adaptation of the last, Heaven’s Feel, storyline from the original “Fate/stay night” visual novel game that hadn’t received its own anime adaptation prior. This collection of films consists of three parts: “I. presage flower”, “II. lost butterfly”, and “III. spring song”. In contrast to the other two “Fate/stay night” anime, this route focuses on Shirou Emiya developing a stronger relationship with Sakura Matou, rather than with Saber or Rin Tohsaka as portrayed in the previous animated releases.

Tomonori Sudo, director of ufotable’s trilogy (now widely recognized due to “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”), collaborated with scriptwriter Akira Hiyama and composer Yuki Kajiura on this project. Originally scheduled for release, the final movie from this trilogy was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic but will now be streamed via Crunchyroll starting December 19, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. PT in countries like the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Channel Islands, Malta, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, South Africa, Latin America with an English dubbed version also accessible for viewers.

What’s Next for Fate?

The “Fate” series is commemorating its 20th anniversary, and as part of the festivities, the streaming release of the “Fate/stay night Heaven’s Fee” trilogy has been revealed. Additionally, Crunchyroll will be releasing more episodes of the “Fate/strange Fake” anime in the future, with a dubbed version available for a limited time. Regarding “Fate/stay night,” since the upcoming film trilogy adapts the final segments of the original visual novel, there may not be much more to explore from that initial storyline.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for a remake of the original “Fate” TV anime series since it was first released, different from what they saw with later instalments under ufotable. So far, there’s no confirmation if this wish will come true, but in the meantime, fans can now stream the final episode if they didn’t catch it in theaters years ago. This could serve as a prelude to how ufotable handles trilogies given their current work on the “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc” trilogy, which is set for its own theatrical release.
