As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the paranatural chaos of Remedy Entertainment’s creations, from the eerie town of Bright Falls in Alan Wake to the Oldest House in Control, the announcement of FBC: Firebreak has sent shivers down my spine. The teaser of Crisis Kits and their unique powers that could potentially turn against me if I’m not careful, has me both intrigued and a tad nervous.
In the most recent Xbox Partner Preview, Remedy Entertainment unveiled their spin-off game for Control, previously known as Project Condor and now titled FBC: Firebreak. This title is set to launch simultaneously on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5. Moreover, it will be available on Game Pass from day one. Interestingly, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can play it right away too!
In a recent announcement, Remedy described their upcoming game as being mid-priced and introduced the concept of Crisis Kits. These can be thought of as predefined sets or loadouts, which grant special abilities called paranatural augments that offer distinctive powers to influence the outcome of battles. Thomas Puha, the communications director, compared these kits to Ultimates, suggesting they could potentially work against you if used carelessly. Additionally, players can customize their Crisis Kits by selecting support items and grenades.
The game titled “Firebreak” is set to debut in the year 2025. Although it’s not categorized as a live service title by Remedy, it plans to provide additional content for free after its launch. Keep an eye out for further updates and gameplay previews in the near future. Meanwhile, the developer is simultaneously working on “Control 2”, a remake of “Max Payne 1 and 2”, and the second and final expansion for “Alan Wake 2” titled “The Lake House”. This latter expansion will be released on October 22nd.
