Remedy Entertainment is primarily recognized for creating narrative-driven games. Among these, Alan Wake 2 and Control have received widespread critical acclaim, establishing the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU). However, their next project strays from this pattern. Titled FBC: Firebreak, it’s a first-person cooperative shooter set within The Oldest House, the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control. The recently unveiled trailer during the Future Games Show offers a fresh glimpse at the upcoming game and provides an estimated release date.
In the latest “Firebreak: Firebreak” trailer, we catch a glimpse of one of the game’s tasks, known as Jobs, which are essentially missions given to the Firebreak Initiative by the FBC. This group of volunteers is responsible for managing the ongoing Hiss threat. The Job featured in this trailer is titled “Paper Chase,” where rogue sticky notes have infiltrated a part of the FBC facility. The Firebreakers are tasked with eliminating this threat and, if possible, making it out safely.
The trailer offers a clear glimpse into the variety of weapons players can utilize during their tasks in FBC: Firebreak. In this game, players will select from three distinct Crisis Kits, functioning as predefined loadouts with a unique weapon. Jump Kits inflict electrical shock damage, Splash Kits rely on water-based assaults to impede enemies and aid teammates, while Fix Kits employ a large wrench for melee attacks. Moreover, players will have the option to utilize enhanced items, such as the explosive piggy bank seen in the trailer.
The trailer concludes by showcasing one of the leaders from FBC: Firebreak. In this instance, it’s a colossal sticky-note creature poised to squash the trio of Firebreakers. Players must collaborate to eliminate the massive menace and try to flee the scene.
Back during the Xbox Partner Preview last October, they unveiled Firebreak as the upcoming project from Remedy Entertainment. Just a few days after that reveal, Sony stepped up and confirmed it would be available on their subscription service, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium too. So, I can’t wait to dive into this game on both Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus!
Towards the closing moments of the preview, Remedy Entertainment unveils that FBC: Firebreak is set to debut in Summer 2025 across platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and both Steam and the Epic Games Store for PC. As of now, the cost has yet to be disclosed, but it’s been classified as a “mid-priced game.” Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus are in for a treat, as the shooter will be accessible on PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate, and PS Plus Extra and Premium through their respective game libraries on its release day.
After the release of FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment has several games planned next in their lineup. Of these, they are primarily focusing on Control 2, where Jesse Faden continues her role as director of the FBC. In collaboration with Rockstar Games, they are also developing a remake for both Max Payne 1 and 2.
