FBI: International’s Finale Disappoints Fans by Ignoring Scott Forrester’s Legacy

In the finale of season 4 and the conclusion of the show, FBI: International didn’t do justice to Scott Forrester’s legacy. Forrester, portrayed by Luke Kleintank, debuted in season 1 as an FBI Supervisory Special Agent and head of the International Fly Team. However, he departed after the first season, with his character choosing to leave the team and reconnect with his mother, who was a fugitive. The two subsequently disappeared together. Despite Forrester’s exit from the series, FBI: International carried on without him, with Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, played by Jesse Lee Soffer, assuming Forrester’s position.

The season finale of FBI: International (season 4) was packed with action and discussions regarding promotions among the team members. The plot revolved around Mitchell’s mission to Japan where he managed to locate and apprehend a serial killer who had murdered an American woman. Meanwhile, viewers were kept guessing about whether Vo or Raines would secure the GS-14 promotion, but the season ended without revealing the outcome. As for the other characters, their storylines remained open-ended, leaving FBI: International fans hanging for more.

FBI: International Season 4 Finale Mainly Follows Mitchell In Japan

Towards the end of the storyline, Mitchell journeys to Tokyo to collaborate with Detective Reiko Isokawa and Kosuke Kubo to pursue a serial killer, following the death of an American woman. Lloyd Acuff becomes their prime suspect due to his alarming online activities. Over time, they gather proof connecting him to various crimes, which leads them to search his apartment, uncovering Polaroids of his victimized individuals. With aid from the Fly Team in Budapest and Tokyo’s CCTV system, Mitchell sets out on a mission to track down Acuff. Eventually, Mitchell engages in discussions with Acuff, ultimately resulting in his apprehension.

Throughout his stay in Japan, Mitchell dedicated all his efforts to tracking down the culprit. The final episode of the series effectively demonstrated Mitchell’s crucial role on the Fly Team and underscored his excellent performance as a replacement for Forrester, following his departure at the close of season 3. Regrettably, with FBI: International being terminated prior to the production of a fifth season, it remains uncertain whether Mitchell could have matched the caliber that Forrester had before he left the series.

Scott Forrester’s Original Fly Team Barely Gets Any Satisfying Send-Off

The fourth season finale of FBI: International left many viewers feeling let down because it heavily centered on Mitchell’s storyline in Japan, rather than giving more attention to the original Fly Team members. Although Mitchell proved to be an engaging character and valuable team member, as this was the series finale, it seemed fitting to have some recognition for Forrester, who was conspicuously absent throughout most of the episode. In essence, the rest of the team’s involvement in the storyline was limited, with only minimal updates provided at the beginning and end of the show.

It might have been more fitting to acknowledge Forrester’s significant role on the show, as he was an essential member from seasons 1 to 3 and departed just before the final season. Instead, it felt like his character had no connection at all with the Fly Team, which could have been rectified by explaining his contributions for a more satisfying farewell.

Why FBI: International Should Have Highlighted The Fly Team Instead Of Just Mitchell

One significant point of contention from the finale of “FBI: International” season 4 was its focus primarily on Mitchell, while neglecting the rest of the “Fly Team”. In a Reddit post initiated by Cheeriosxxx, many viewers expressed their disappointment, describing the finale as dull. A recurring criticism was that with the series being canceled, the season should have concluded with the “Fly Team” embarking on a mission collectively. One user remarked: “Given the years we’ve spent following this team, more emphasis should have been placed on them. I believe there were opportunities to delve deeper into where the members of the Fly Team were headed.

Despite Mitchell taking over as the main character in the new series, fans wished for a final mission involving the original Fly Team one last time. Instead, the finale left the story open-ended and without much resolution. Not only did it disregard Forrester’s legacy, but it also fell short of delivering what fans expected from the Fly Team.
