Player Roles contribute to how individual players in FC 25 behave when off the ball.
Within the FC IQ system, EA incorporated thirty-one distinct Role types, impacting their mobility, placement, and general playing style.
Every player is free to select any character role, but some players might be more proficient with specific roles, which we refer to as Advanced Role (Role+) or Highly Advanced Role (Role++).
Example: Bukayo Saka is highly proficient at playing as an Inside Forward on the right side of the pitch, and his role can be referred to as the Inside Forward+ Position.
So, now that you know the basics, which Player Roles should you use?
Best Player Roles in FC 25
In Football Club (FC) 25, our key player positions include the Sweeper, Defender, Central Midfielder, Attacking Midfielder, Winger, and Striker.
As a passionate movie buff, I strongly believe that the characters you choose for your team aren’t just about following a script; they greatly depend on the style you play with, the formations you prefer, and the tactical strategies you employ. This shouldn’t be the sole factor guiding your squad selections.
On the field, they merely represent a piece of a player’s overall conduct. Therefore, it’s crucial to examine their PlayStyles and other characteristics as well.
It’s not advisable to eliminate top-tier players like Kylian Mbappé or any of the highest-ranked FC 25 squad members simply because their role on your team doesn’t match what you prefer.
Let me share the roles we prefer for players in FC 25 thus far, along with some players who embody these positions.
Best Goalkeeper Player Role in FC 25
In FC 25, we’ve found that there are merely two types of Goalkeeper Roles, and among these, the conventional Goalkeeper Role is the one we prefer more than the Sweeper Keeper.
Goalkeeping Coach notices that the goalkeeper tends to step out of the penalty area and away from the goal-line more regularly than what is typically observed in actual matches.
In my opinion, given how frantic and swift-moving FC 25 is, venturing out of the goal box to gather the ball might prove perilous for any goalkeeper. It’s a thrilling game, but this tactic could potentially leave the net unguarded.

The best Player Role for an LB or RB in FC 25 is Falseback.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I find myself often strategically positioning myself not as an attacker, but as a defensive midfielder – always ready to halt the enemy’s offensive charge. I usually stand just ahead of the two central defenders, acting as a barrier against potential counter-attacks.

Best CAM Player Role in FC 25
The best Role for your CAM depends on your formation, but the Shadow Striker is a great all-round pick if you want them to join the attack.
In a nutshell, the Shadow Striker role operates as anticipated. The Center Attacking Midfielder (CAM) will launch attacks from behind your front line players, darting into the penalty area when they make overlapping runs.

In football, the role of a “Poacher” doesn’t conform to the typical understanding of a poacher. Instead, it embodies elements similar to the traditional FIFA/FC player instructions such as ‘Advance Forward, Position Yourself Behind’. This strategy was particularly effective and widely used.
Position a swift forward at the front as a Poacher, and they’ll soon outrun the defenders.
