FC 25 producer talks Lamine Yamal, Fabrizio Romano and big Career Mode changes

As a seasoned gamer and career mode enthusiast with over two decades under my belt, let me tell you that EA Sports FC 25 is shaping up to be a game changer for us die-hard Career Mode aficionados. The revamp of this long-neglected aspect of the game has been a long time coming, and it seems like the developers have finally listened to our collective pleas.

Enthusiasts of EA Sports Football Club 24 are already buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming edition, FC 25, and there’s a solid justification behind their excitement.

One significant update you’ll notice after the FIFA follow-up is a refreshed Career Mode, a part of the game that some enthusiasts have felt hasn’t received enough attention for quite a while.

From now on, we’ll see notable figures such as women’s sport icons and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano involved with the platform upon its launch on September 27, 2024.

Who could be more fitting to discuss the recent updates with than Andreas Wilsdorf, an associate producer at EA Sports FC 25, and a significant contributor to this year’s Career Mode development?

At Gamescom in Cologne, we had the good fortune to have a conversation with Wilsdorf, and you can view the whole discussion right here (or catch it on our YouTube channel).

This upcoming year is expected to bring significant advancements in the much-loved aspect of the game (Career Mode), following some fan discontent over what seemed like slow development.

So, why is EA Sports putting a greater focus on it for the 2024/25 season?

According to Wilsdorf, the timing seemed perfect for implementing changes. Previously, they had enhanced strategies with Tactical Vision, but the arrival of FC IQ made it feel appropriate to revise player positions and even incorporate coaches into this new setup.

When Rush joined us, there was a desire within our community to engage with younger players. Seeing Rush sparked ideas about how we could implement a system similar to Germany’s popular five-versus-five format – realizing it would be the ideal platform to make our youth players accessible for gameplay.

“So it just felt like everything was falling in the right place.”

One of the most important elements of Career Mode is, of course, the transfer window.

Following his exploits at Euro 2024 and given his immense potential, it’s likely that many managers will have Lamine Yamal high on their transfer priority lists for the upcoming season.

Since the 17-year-old didn’t join FC 24 until the Euros update, could it be possible that he will start the games this season right away?

Absolutely, he’s set to play, affirms Wilsdorf. “I believe there are numerous individuals who will find him an attractive transfer option.

A notable enhancement to our platform is the joining of Fabrizio Romano, known for revealing major signings with his distinctive phrase, “Time for the big announcement: Here we go.

Speaking about the well-known football enthusiast who loves his phone, Wilsdorf remarked: “He’s someone brimming with passion for the sport.

Over the past few years, there have been whispers about whether he would ever collaborate with us. With our restaurant overhaul this year, incorporating social media, it seemed like the perfect time to finally explore a partnership.

Given our new collaborations with other media outlets, this seemed like the ideal time to put more emphasis on them. Notably, Fabrizio Romano was thrilled by the prospect, as he’s passionate about sports, making him a great match for us.

As a devoted follower, envision the immense pride I’d experience if I were the one leading Accrington Stanley to the Premier League, then having the renowned transfer expert announce the acquisition of Kylian Mbappé. Fortunately, you no longer have to imagine this scenario – it’s all part of the gameplay experience!
