Best Tips & Tricks for Beginners
In this article, you’ll find a collection of 15 valuable tips, all listed below, and their sequence isn’t important. Enjoy!
Tip #1 – Getting all the Basic Tools

In various industries such as agriculture, aquaculture, or mining, having appropriate tools is essential. Here’s how you can procure your initial tools:
- Sword
- You will get it on day 1 when you wake up.
- Hoe
- You will get this from Celine at the start of the game.
- Watering Can
- This will be given to you by Hayden after you receive the Hoe from Celine.
- Axe
- You will get this through a cutscene with Eiland when you need to chop a tree blocking a statue.
- Pickaxe
- The Pickaxe can be obtained through a quest called “Do a Bro a Favor” which is given by Olric. It is available on the quest board on day 2.
- Net
- To get this, you need to complete the “Something’s Bugging Me” quest which is given by Luc on 4th of Spring. It will also be available on the quest board.
Getting the Shovel and Fishing Rod
Currently, you have two options to acquire your initial Shovel and Fishing Rod. The first option is to purchase each item for 500 Tesserae at the local stores. Specifically, the Worn Fishing Rod can be found in the Tackle Shop (located on the Beach), while the Worn Shovel is available from the General Store.
The approach I believe is most effective involves accessing the mines on day 6, once you’ve achieved Stone Town Rank. Upon visiting the mines, focus on extracting copper, as it’s abundant there.

After gathering some copper ore, head over to the anvil positioned outside the blacksmith’s workshop – it’s where I like to craft my efficient and economical Copper Shovel and Fishing Rod for just 480 Tesserae each. These tools aren’t only budget-friendly, but they also perform exceptionally well!
Tip #2 – Earning Tesserae Faster

In this game, one effective method to acquire Tesserae is by engaging in Angling. You can sell the fish you catch for a good amount of Tesserae, and angling is quite straightforward. Aim to reel in fish with larger shadows since they are usually rarer.
Tip #3 – Increasing Inventory Capacity

While engaging in the game, you might find that the first 10 slots of your inventory are rather constricting. To address this issue, I recommend purchasing the “Bag Upgrade” from the “General Store” promptly, if possible. This upgrade costs 1000 Tesserae but offers great value as it doubles your available inventory space.
Tip #4 – Crafting & Cooking

In contrast to many comparable games, there’s no requirement for you to acquire crafting tables since they are readily accessible within the town itself. Here are some places where you can prepare or create diverse items:
- Cooking
- You can cook for free in the Kitchen located inside the Sleeping Dragon Inn.
- Woodcrafting
- Two woodcrafting tables are available: one located to the right side of the church and the other is situated near the Carpenter’s Shop.
- Blacksmithing
- The workbench for this is located outside the Blacksmith.
Another noteworthy aspect is that this game employs a global inventory system for crafting and cooking. This feature allows the game to scan all your storage containers for ingredients, so you won’t have to keep them in your personal inventory manually.
Tip #5 – Don’t forget to Jump

As a gamer, I’ve found jumping to be quite handy in this game, especially when navigating through the minefields and bushy areas around my village. Instead of spending precious minutes clearing minor hurdles, I just leap over them, making my journey smoother and faster!
Tip #6 – Shells

By the edge of the beach, you’ll frequently encounter seashells that have been brought in by the tide. These shells can be valuable as Tesserae, so do remember to collect them whenever you find the opportunity.
Tip #7 – Check the Quest Board everyday

On the notice board, you’ll find daily tasks assigned by the villagers, each completed task will yield rewards and significantly boost your status within the town, contributing to your higher town standing.
Don’t fret if you skip a day, since the tasks don’t run out. In fact, they don’t have any specific deadlines either. To maximize your benefits, it’s best to accept all incoming requests and work on them promptly when you can.
Tip #8 – Juniper’s Bathhouse

If your energy levels (stamina) ever deplete, you’ll find it hard to accomplish many of your tasks. The most effective solution is to immerse yourself in Juniper’s Bathhouse. This comes at a cost of Tesserae, but there’s a quest available that offers 5 complimentary bathing sessions, so do watch out for this on the quest board.
Tip #9 – Free Soup

At the Sleeping Dragon Inn daily, you can sip on a restorative soup that returns 20 energy units to you. You’ll find the cauldron for this invigorating brew nestled near the kitchen, beside the fireplace. While 20 points might seem modest, remember it’s free and every little helps, so don’t miss out on it each day!
Tip #10 – Digging for Treasures

As I tread eastward, I can’t help but feel my heart pounding with anticipation. The ancient archaeology site looms ahead, as hinted by the map above. Upon arrival, I notice peculiar circular patterns etched into the ground. Time to break out the trusty Shovel or Pickaxe and see what treasures lie buried beneath! It’s not every day you stumble upon a set of items worthy enough for display in the Museum.
Tip #11 – Saturday Market

On the third day, you’ll get a mission titled “Repairing the Bridge!” Complete this task, and a weekly market called the “Saturday Market” will start taking place in the town square each Saturday.
At the Weekend Market, you’ll encounter four unique stalls offering a variety of fantastic goods. Keep in mind that their inventory rotates weekly, so if you’re interested in purchasing something, it’s best to go there before your desired item disappears from the shelves.
Tip #12 – Clearing Weeds

In Stardew Valley, a scythe is used to remove weeds, but unlike that game, this one allows you to clear weeds using just your sword.
Tip #13 – Doorway Sign

Because the game is presented from a higher perspective, you might not always notice other areas within the building that are accessible to you. To assist you with this, I’ve highlighted an arrow in the image above for you to spot. Whenever you come across such an arrow, it signals a room you can enter.
Tip #14 – Balor’s Wagon

Occasionally, you might discover valuable artifacts in Balor’s Wagon, some of which are suitable for donation to the museum. Given that the inventory of Balor’s wagon varies daily, I recommend checking it out each day to ensure you don’t miss any exciting finds.
Tip #15 – Go to Bed on Time

The actual time of going to bed is 2:00 AM but if you stay awake past this time, you will get a message “You’re too tired to continue…” and you will pass out on the spot. You will wake up in your bed the next day at 10:00 AM which means a decent chunk of your morning is gone. To avoid wasting this precious time, I suggest going to bed on time!
