At Cinema Ocho in La Plata, Argentina, during the debut of Final Destination: Bloodlines, an eerie resemblance to the film unfolded when a ceiling panel unexpectedly fell, injuring a moviegoer. A woman named Fiamma Villaverde was struck on her knee and had to be hospitalized. She expressed her gratitude that the falling debris missed her head by just a few inches, as she believes the impact would have been far more severe or even fatal if it hadn’t. She shared her experience on social media and later with Infobae.
On the weekend, Villaverde stepped out for a birthday celebration at the cinema with her friend and 11-year-old daughter. She shared that they were all captivated by the latest installment of Final Destination, which was brimming with the series’ classic Rube Goldberg-style accidents and injuries. They watched so intently that they almost found themselves in an unforeseen mishap of their own.
According to a report from The Express Tribune, Villaverde stated that there was an extremely loud sound. Initially, we believed it might have been part of the movie as we were deeply engrossed, but shortly afterwards, a massive object fell on him. Fortunately for Villaverde, he wasn’t struck in the head because he was slightly leaned over the armrest at the time.
Villaverde was playfully comparing the incident to the “Final Destination” films, but in reality, she held the theater management accountable for the large bruise on her leg. She stated that the manager had asked her, “How can we address this issue?”, to which she retorted, “Address it? I’m going to file a complaint… Consider if they had injured my daughter instead! They were negligent!
As a cinephile, I found myself unable to tend bar due to an injury sustained by Villaverde. I’ve shared that I’m engaging with a legal professional and plan to lodge a grievance. However, the specifics regarding potential legal action remain unclear at this moment.
The film “Final Destination: Bloodlines” rekindled the series following an over-a-decade gap. It resurrected classic themes and characters for this fateful franchise, but with fresh voices behind the script, direction, and performances. As customary, the plotline was subtly modified to keep audiences guessing. Following its initial release, it has garnered mostly favorable feedback, boasting a 92% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, you can catch it in cinemas across the United States.
