It appears that the era of exclusive releases for mainline “Final Fantasy” games on a single platform is coming to an end. For example, “Final Fantasy 16” has already been released on PC and there are indications that it may also be released for Xbox Series X/S soon. This could potentially happen quite soon.
According to a well-known leaker, NateTheHate, who shared his insights on ResetEra, Square Enix is expected to announce “Final Fantasy 16” for Xbox Series X/S. The game might be released around the spring season, or more specifically, during the mid-first half of this year. NateTheHate hints that the announcement could coincide with the rumored ports of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” and “Rebirth”.
It’s also being speculated that the final two will appear on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well. However, NateTheHate claims that a release of “Final Fantasy 16” isn’t in the cards for the Switch 2 at this time. Instead, Square Enix seems to be focusing on porting the “Remake” and “Rebirth”.
Final Fantasy 16 is currently available on PS5 and PC.
