As a seasoned gamer with a hearty dose of nostalgia for the Final Fantasy series, I must say, Square Enix has been keeping me on my toes this past month! The updates for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth have been a rollercoaster ride, from hardware upgrades to minor fixes. While I appreciate the attention to detail in resolving the DualSense vibration issue, I can’t help but wonder what cosmic force was causing such a peculiar glitch in the first place!
2024 will see an unexpected early release of a new update for “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth,” as announced by Square Enix recently. Over the past month, the game has received several smaller updates, primarily focusing on enhancing compatibility with Sony’s upcoming PS5 Pro console. Beyond these hardware improvements, not much else has been altered within the core game. The latest update for “Rebirth” has followed a similar trend, as Square Enix has mainly focused on resolving a minor issue that has persistently caused problems for players.
Currently, you can download update version 1.003 for “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” on your PlayStation 5. This minor update is primarily intended to rectify an issue affecting the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback, which wasn’t functioning properly according to Square Enix. The specific causes of this problem were not disclosed, but they have successfully resolved it now.
It appears that the same problem affecting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has extended to Final Fantasy VII Remake as well, prompting Square Enix to release an update for the earlier game today. What makes this situation intriguing is that the DualSense issues, which affected both the PS5 and PC versions of FFVII Remake, are not exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version.
Moving on, it’s possible that the updates for “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” could become quite limited or even cease altogether. This assumption arises due to Square Enix confirming that there will be no future DLC for “FFVII Rebirth.” With no additional content in the pipeline, it seems likely that update frequency might significantly decrease or even halt completely within the coming weeks and months.
It’s certain that “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” will be coming to PC very soon, with its release scheduled for around a month from now on January 23rd. This date marks when the game will become available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. If you’re eager to pre-order the PC version of the game, you can currently benefit from a 30% discount if you do so before its release.
