Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Launches for PC on January 23

As a longtime fan who has journeyed through the pixelated landscapes of Final Fantasy 7 since its original release, I can barely contain my excitement about the upcoming open-world adventure with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC! The visual upgrades and technical enhancements like DLSS and VRR are just the cherry on top. It’s as if my childhood dreams of exploring Midgar in stunning detail have finally come true, and I can hardly wait until January 23 to immerse myself once more in this iconic world.

Initially released exclusively for PlayStation 5 this year, “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” didn’t achieve the commercial success Square Enix had hoped for. In response, they announced a change in strategy, aiming to make their games available on multiple platforms in the future. It was also revealed that the open-world format would be introduced to “Rebirth” as well.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that at The Game Awards, Square Enix unveiled the news that “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” is making its way to PCs soon! Mark your calendars for January 23rd, as this open world action RPG will officially debut on our beloved platforms. Not only does it promise support for DLSS and VRR technologies, but it also boasts enhanced lighting, textures, modeling, and a myriad of other improvements. To get a glimpse of the magic, feast your eyes on the trailer below!

Earlier this year, our critique of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” resulted in a perfect score of 10/10. We stated that “At long last, the grand, globe-trotting epics of the old Final Fantasy series from its 16- and 32-bit glory days have been brought to life in AAA quality with “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”. This game finally achieves the series’ inherent potential, drawing upon its past to potentially mark the beginning of a new golden era for the franchise.” You can read the entire review here.

It is uncertain if the game (alongside its 2020 precursor) will become available on Xbox Series X/S in the near future, but director Naoki Hamaguchi hinted it could occur earlier than expected. You can learn more about this possibility by following this link.

It seems there are currently no plans for Downloadable Content (DLC) for “Rebirth”, as the development team has shifted their focus entirely towards “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3”.
