Following the release of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” onto PC (take a look at our review), series producer Yoshinori Kitase and game director Naoki Hamaguchi have begun discussing the eagerly awaited third installment in the “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” trilogy. In an interview with Famitsu, Kitase revealed that the storyline for the third part has been fully written, and development on the title is progressing smoothly without any setbacks.
According to Kitase, he’s extremely pleased with the progress of the story for “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” part 3, suggesting that fans will also be content with the final chapter. Yet, the duo has kept quiet about additional details on the third installment, and since development is ongoing, it might be a while before we get to play the game.
In a separate conversation, Hamaguchi discussed the updated aspects of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” on PC in another interview, mentioning that even PS5 gamers have expressed interest in certain features. Notably, he highlighted the option to fast-forward through cinematic scenes.
In modern times, numerous individuals opt to watch videos and films at a faster pace due to time constraints. Similarly, I frequently utilize the speed-up feature because I have limited time. Hamaguchi expressed that we are living in an era where users should be allowed to customize their experiences. Instead of lengthy cutscenes acting as hurdles that hinder gameplay, he suggests incorporating more time-saving functions for a smoother experience.
In the end, Hamaguchi didn’t provide a specific timeline for when the mentioned features might appear in the PS5 version of the game.
For individuals who may not be familiar, the PC edition of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers a variety of aspects, including technical ones such as compatibility with Nvidia’s DLSS technology and mouse and keyboard support. Additionally, it includes features that mimic the DualSense controller. These additional elements were recently unveiled in a trailer released this month.
Back in December, Square Enix shared the system requirements for running the game on a PC. For those who want to play with lower-end specifications, they’ll need at least an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-8100 CPU, a Radeon RX 6600, Intel Arc 580, or Nvidia GeForce GTX 2060 GPU, and 16GB of RAM.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the sequel to 7 Remake, continuing the story immediately after the events of the first game. The team, made up of Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barrett, and Red-XIII, are tasked with preventing Sephiroth from carrying out his plan, which could endanger the entire world.
Instead of the initial version, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers expanded, spacious areas for players to freely traverse, hunt fiends, and even tackle side quests. Notably, this title includes a variety of minigames, each boasting its own story-driven sidequest to complete for unique rewards.
Initially, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth debuted on PlayStation 5 as far back as February 2024. If you’d like to learn more about its initial launch, feel free to explore our review of the original PS5 version.
