It appears that Square Enix has started recording English voices for the third installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. A clue was spotted by ResetEra user Chaserjoey, as voice actor Cody Christian, who portrays protagonist Cloud Strife in the trilogy, shared a social media post suggesting he’s resumed working on his role.
On Christian’s Instagram, you’ll find a post displaying the voice actor within a recording studio, accompanied by the caption “thrilled to be reunited with my buddy.” Additionally, there’s a miniature, stylish illustration of Cloud Strife featured in the post.
It’s important to mention that Square Enix hasn’t publicly confirmed anything about the issue yet. Generally, they prefer to keep a low profile with their major franchises, only revealing information in the form of trailers when they have significant news to share.

Usually, in the production of an AAA game like this one, voice acting is typically done near the end. So, finding out that it’s underway suggests we might be nearing the home stretch!
This is due to the fact that while creating a game, elements often evolve, and altering the story following the completion of voice acting could prove costly because new scenes would need to be recreated.
In simple terms, it’s been revealed that the third installment of the trilogy, which was released in 2024 as “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” will continue immediately from where the previous game ended.
