For several years now, whispers have circulated about potential remakes of “Final Fantasy 9” and remasters of “Final Fantasy Tactics.” Despite Square Enix remaining silent on the matter, unofficial sources persistently claim that these projects are actively being developed.
Indeed, noteworthy insider NateTheHate has reiterated his support for those statements previously made. Observed by VGC before the recent State of Play broadcast, this leaker suggested that both projects are actively being worked on as of now. According to him, neither game is projected to launch in 2025; however, he hints that a potential release date for “Final Fantasy 9 Remake” might be 2026.
It’s unclear exactly when Square Enix might decide to announce these games. However, there’s a Nintendo Direct event scheduled for April 2, which could potentially be an ideal platform for such announcements – but keep in mind, this is all just speculation as of now.
As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly keeping tabs on the progress of both projects. However, it seems that FFIXR might not be gracing our screens until 2026, which is still exciting news for us fans!
