What you need to know
- Microsoft has changed where it will post information about the Microsoft 365 Insider program.
- Rather than appear on a dedicated blog, Microsoft 365 Insider posts will appear with in the Microsoft Tech Community.
- The move should increase engagement and help Microsoft 365 Insiders connect to more people.
As someone who has been following Microsoft’s moves for quite some time now, I find this recent shift intriguing. I remember the days when we used to eagerly wait for updates from the dedicated Microsoft 365 Insider blog. But times they are a-changin’, and it seems that Microsoft is embracing the digital age by moving towards more interactive platforms.
This week, Microsoft published their final post on the Microsoft 365 Insider blog, but don’t worry, it’s not being discontinued! Instead, its location has changed to the Tech Community website. From now on, all updates and content related to the Microsoft 365 Insider program and Microsoft 365 Insiders will be shared through this new platform.
People who keep up-to-date with Microsoft news may recognize the Tech Community site. Already, posts about various Microsoft applications and services can be found there. Moving away from the exclusive Microsoft 365 Insider blog could bring several benefits, particularly in fostering a stronger sense of community interaction.
In its last Microsoft 365 Insider blog post on the previous site, Microsoft explained the main factors driving the change.
- Enhanced Engagement: The Tech Community is designed for sharing timely information and driving community engagement.
- Community Interaction: The Tech Community facilitates engagement with a larger community of Microsoft 365 users, MVPs, and Community Ambassadors, and enables you to share your thoughts, ask questions, and participate in discussions.
- Access to Resources: The Tech Community provides a wealth of resources, including blog posts, event promotions, and more, all in one place.
- Improved Collaboration: The Tech Community supports better collaboration and interaction, making it easier for you to connect with experts and peers.
- Event Promotion: The Tech Community provides a platform to share blog posts, resources, and promote events like AMAs (Ask Me Anything) sessions,
Moving news and discussions about Microsoft 365 to the Tech Community platform could stimulate more interaction among users. The Tech Community is designed for conversations, where you can often find both experts and everyday users engaging in threads. By doing so, Microsoft 365 Insiders will be part of a wider community that encompasses MVPs, community ambassadors, and other users, fostering a more expansive dialogue.
I personally find the layout of the Tech Community site more user-friendly, as it presents numerous posts simultaneously without creating a sense of overcrowding or difficulty in locating specific content.
On August 26, 2024, I found that the Microsoft 365 Insider Blog section within the Tech Community site has grown significantly. I was delighted to discover that Microsoft had transferred a wealth of content over to this space. Now, users like myself can effortlessly search for blog posts by applying filters or other search methods. Additionally, it’s possible to follow this page or opt for an RSS feed subscription to stay updated on new content.
The relocation of Microsoft’s announcement spot for the Microsoft 365 Insider program won’t impact those participating in it. Instead, it simply means users should glance at a different location to catch the most recent updates.
