As Stranger Things initially debuted, Finn Wolfhard was just 13 years old. Fast-forward to today, and at 22, he’s approaching the end of an almost decade-long journey with Stranger Things Season 5. It’s a significant milestone that brings a substantial part of his life to a close. Understandably, these feelings can be overwhelming, and the actor portraying Mike has shared some insights into those moments when he finds himself unexpectedly shedding tears over it all.
As a movie connoisseur reflecting upon recent cinematic experiences, I can relate to Finn Wolfhard’s sentiments after wrapping up “Stranger Things.” The emotional hangover he described following the show’s conclusion resonates deeply within me. During an appearance on the Zach Sang Show, Wolfhard eloquently articulated the tumultuous mix of feelings that enveloped him during production’s end, a stark contrast to the intense rollercoaster ride we viewers experienced alongside his character.
During that year with the cast and crew, my attitude embodied two key aspects. Firstly, I aimed to maintain an unwavering positivity, always seeking the silver lining. Whenever someone seemed disheartened about the project ending or encountering difficulties, I would encourage them by saying something like, “Let’s focus on enjoying this journey and worry about what comes next when we get there.” In essence, I tried to foster a sense of living in the present moment as much as possible.
He further emphasized the importance of savoring each moment with a bright outlook, while acknowledging that unexpected feelings would occasionally catch him off guard as well.
At times, I found myself mysteriously wandering through my home for about 15 minutes, behaving in a way that was unusual for me, shedding tears uncontrollably as if I were losing my mind.
It’s been widely acknowledged that the cast and crew of “Stranger Things” have found this final season particularly emotional. The main child actors have spent significant portions of their formative years on these sets, growing up before our very eyes. This team is also responsible for one of Netflix’s most successful shows, a fact that likely demands a great deal of reflection. It seems reasonable to assume that there might be feelings of loss as they bid farewell to such a monumental project.
Indeed, though Wolfhard admitted being puzzled about the sudden surge of feelings, he managed to pinpoint a possible cause for his tears. As I had suspected, he found it incredibly challenging to grapple with the conclusion of such a massive and significant event.
It felt quite unusual, but I believe my mind was expressing subconscious sorrow over the conclusion of a series that held significant importance for me.
He went on talking about how significant the show was to him. As someone deeply passionate about filmmaking, he derived immense pleasure from observing people like the Duffer Brothers at work behind the scenes. Now, after all these years have passed, he’s now a director himself, with his movie, “Hell of a Summer,” set for release in 2025.
Additionally, Wolfhard mentioned that he’s been significantly influenced not just by the show but also by his fellow cast members. He specifically pointed out Joe Keery as an individual who has had a “tremendously impactful” role in his life.
Processing so many relationships, instances, and emotions became incredibly intense. That’s why, according to Wolfhard, he would occasionally withdraw or “take a break,” as he puts it.
With everything wrapping up, I found myself struggling to grasp it. As a result, I essentially went into a sort of shutdown. Afterward, I’d feel perfectly fine and would take a stroll around our shared neighborhood, since most of us on the cast lived there together.
Indeed, isn’t it heartwarming? It’s delightful to know they resided nearby and genuinely cherished their final year of collaboration.
As we edge closer to the November 26 launch of Season 5, scheduled for 2025, I’m eagerly anticipating deeper insights into how impactful this journey has been for Wolfhard and the rest of the cast. I can only imagine that they will experience a flood of intense emotions once more as they gear up to publicize these new episodes and fans tune in via their Netflix subscriptions. Nevertheless, I fervently wish that above all else, there will be an overwhelming sense of optimism and joy surrounding this remarkable production they’ve all contributed to.
