Nintendo is recognized for numerous aspects, but a notable feature is its affection for making its video games exclusive.
Games for consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox may eventually become available for PC, but titles like Super Mario, Pokemon, and The Legend of Zelda are typically not found on computers in a legal manner.
Of course, it makes perfect sense! A strong exclusive game library is a major draw for Nintendo systems such as the upcoming Switch 2, making it wise for Nintendo to ensure their top games remain exclusive to their own hardware.
Which is why it’s so surprising that the Xenoblade series appears set to make its debut on PC.
Microsoft recently unveiled a fresh addition for PC gaming enthusiasts known as the Microsoft Edge Game Assist. This new feature provides useful resources automatically when you open a new tab.
The current feature offers a variety of well-known PC video games, making it intriguing that titles such as Fortnite, Baldur’s Gate 3, Oblivion, and even Xenoblade Chronicles X are all part of this list.
Originating from Monolith Soft, the game titled Xenoblade Chronicles X hit shelves in 2015, exclusively on the Wii U system, with no subsequent releases on alternative platforms outside of Nintendo.
To date, none of the Xenoblade games have been released outside of Nintendo platforms, given that the studio producing them has belonged to Nintendo since 2007, a few years prior to the initial Xenoblade release on the Wii.
Could it be that since Xenoblade Chronicles X was released as a Switch port earlier this year with the Definitive Edition, there might have also been work on a PC version of the game simultaneously along with the new Switch release?
However, since neither Monolith Soft, Nintendo, nor Microsoft have verified the information, it’s also possible that the game appearing on this list is merely a strange oversight or possibly an unintentional mistake by an AI.
As a devoted fan, I must admit, it would seem quite unusual for Nintendo to introduce one of their highly-praised series on PC this year, especially with the launch of their latest flagship console around the corner. However, considering Nintendo’s penchant for surprising us, if any company could pull off an unexpected move like that, it’s undoubtedly Nintendo.
