Five Nights at Freddy's Fans Excited After Getting to Play New Game: "Incredibly Intense"

As a die-hard fan of the chilling saga that is Five Nights at Freddy’s, I’ve been through more than one sleepless night thanks to those animatronic terrors. Now, with the announcement of the latest spin-off, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, my heart skips a beat (or maybe it’s just the animatronics chasing me).

A new standalone game based on the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” series is being developed, offering a completely fresh tale set within the original game’s world. The title of this game is “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Mystery of the Mimic”. Initially, only a brief teaser trailer was released, leaving fans with little to discuss except for speculation. However, recent opportunities for hands-on experience with the game have sparked excitement among fans, who now believe it could be the next major success in the series after trying it out.

The gameplay sessions for “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic” were conducted during PAX West, where Steel Wool Studios was stationed. This means that fans who couldn’t attend the event didn’t get a chance to download a PlayStation 5 demo or similar. Consequently, the collection of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” anecdotes is quite limited, comprising only stories from individuals who attended PAX West and subsequently shared their experiences online. Fortunately, there are numerous such accounts available, allowing us to gather information about “Secret of the Mimic”.

Regardless of what people thought about the game, early players of “Secret of the Mimic” agreed that the demo included both a chase sequence and one set in an office. In the chase part, it was Jackie who was pursuing the players. Jackie is a clown-like animatronic, resembling a jack-in-the-box toy, which appeared in the teaser trailer for “Secret of the Mimic”. Part of the chase demo involved Jackie chasing the player through vents as it moved along with its stretchy arms.

Wolfcl0ck1 remarked that the chase sequence was extremely thrilling, and the reaching arms gave a sense of imminent capture. He believes that playing this game in VR rather than 2D would significantly enhance the horror experience.

A Redditor known as BubblesZap, who’s a fan of FNAF, offered his thoughts on both the chase and office demos. The office demo included elements such as Fredbear posters and potential hints for upcoming characters, with Jackie being particularly noteworthy in that demonstration.

When Jackie emerges from her container, she appears far MORE ADVANCED than anything else in sight, according to the player. Tearing open her enclosure, the player tries to access a doorway.

Instead of having to pick just one demo between them, people were recommended to try out the ‘Chase’ demo initially. However, if these demos eventually appear on the PlayStation Store, it would ideally not be necessary to make a choice and instead, both could be accessible. As of now, the game has only been confirmed for the PlayStation VR2 system, but it will also be playable without VR on PS5. The availability on other platforms remains uncertain.
