As a woman who has spent countless hours poring over the lives of these extraordinary individuals, I am truly in awe of their strength and resilience. Each one of them has faced challenges unique to their journeys, yet they have all chosen to take control of their reproductive health.
Florence Pugh is sharing insight into her reproductive health journey.
As a devoted follower, I’ve just learned that the star I admire has shared some personal health updates. She revealed she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis by Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi. Both conditions can lead to infertility issues. To address potential future fertility difficulties, the doctor advised her to preserve her eggs at the age of 27.
Florence, at the age of 28, remembered her conversation with Dr. A during the November 19th episode of Dear Media’s SHE MD podcast. She inquired if I had ever undergone an egg count test. Initially, she was puzzled and asked, “What do you mean? I’m so young. Why would I need an egg count?
Following the egg count examination, Dr. A was then able to identify Florence’s condition as both PCOS and endometriosis. Upon discovering that the actress wished to postpone pregnancy by up to five years, Dr. A advised her to consider freezing her eggs for potential future use.
Florence explained, “It seemed so extraordinary because my family has always been prolific at having children. My mother had babies well into her 40s, and even my grandmother gave birth multiple times. I honestly didn’t expect that there would be any issues or differences regarding this matter for me. It simply never occurred to me as a concern.
She added, “Later on, at age 27, I discovered completely new information – I had to remove my eggs promptly, which was quite a shock. Fortunately, I found out at the right time as I’ve always wanted children since I was young.
The actress who played in ‘Little Women’ also pondered upon the realization that she had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), even though she had been aware of it for quite some time.
The nominated actress’s open dialogue about her personal reproductive health follows a previous heartfelt discourse on how her latest movie, “We Live in Time,” made her reflect deeply on her desires in life, such as love and starting a family.
In her interview with British Vogue, published in September, she shared that the movie’s theme resonated with her, as she was at an age where it could greatly impact her. She had experienced some unusual complications in her relationships during the previous year, and she felt that a key aspect of the story was to act assertively rather than letting things slide. She expressed her desire to pursue love and start a family.
It’s the prospect of starting a family that Florence, who has recently revealed a new relationship following her breakup with Zach Braff, has long been eager about.
The actor mentioned that he’s long pondered about starting a family. He’s harbored this desire since he was a kid himself, and cherishes the thought of having many children. Being part of a large family is appealing to him, as he originates from one, and he adores kids.
Instead of pondering “if” she’ll have children, Florence said, “It’s more about determining the timing.

Florence clarified, “I had only heard about it before. To be honest, I never considered it as widespread. I simply thought it was something you’d feel deeply within yourself, a sensation so distinct that one couldn’t doubt its presence. It didn’t seem like something to be concerned about.
She went on, ‘You eventually discover that changes are necessary in your lifestyle. You need to anticipate and plan ahead for the future, a concept which many young women may not immediately consider when they’re in their 20s or even younger.’
Although the change in perspective came with a diagnosis for Florence, she is thankful that it allows her to draw upon her personal experiences and guide others effectively.
She continued by saying she shared her situation with friends. Since then, a couple of them have gone to get tested, finding out they too had the same issue. So, simply by learning a little about it, I’ve unwittingly encouraged other women to check if they might be affected as well.
After an open dialogue regarding her personal reproductive health, the Academy Award nominee has shared more insights. This conversation follows a previous heartfelt discussion about how making her latest film titled “We Live in Time” made her reflect on her desires for life, such as love and building a family.
In an interview with British Vogue, published in September, she expressed that the movie’s theme resonated with her because she was at an appropriate age for its message. She had been experiencing some strange relationship issues the previous year, which she felt were reflected in the story. Rather than just letting things happen to her, she wanted to take action and find love, and start a family.
What’s intriguing about that final point, regarding having children, is that it’s something Florence, fresh off her relationship confirmation post-split with Zach Braff, has long anticipated.
As a passionate advocate for familial bonds, I’ve long nurtured a dream about expanding my family tree. Ever since I was a young one, the notion of parenthood has resonated deeply within me. The concept of a large, lively family is something that truly warms my heart. After all, I hail from such a family myself, and I’ve always cherished the company of children.
Instead of pondering “if” she will have children, Florence stated, “It’s more about deciding when.
