FNAF games in story order
To enjoy the Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) series in the correct story sequence, it’s essential to understand the timeline of each game within the universe. Luckily, we have that information readily available. Here’s a simple guide on how to play the FNAF games in chronological story order:
1. FNaF 0 (or Sister Location)
2. FNaF 1
3. FNaF 2
4. FNaF 3
5. FNaF 4
6. FNaF SL (Sister Location)
7. FNaF 6
8. Ultimate Custom Night
Five Nights at Freddy’s 4

Often regarded as the ideal starting point for newcomers to the FNAF series, the fourth installment in the franchise is situated in the most ancient part of the chronology, taking place in the year 1983, well before other games within the series.
Because it takes place at a different point in time, FNAF 4 features a new environment where you control a child hiding in their bedroom from spooky animatronics, instead of playing as a security guard.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

The sequel to the story, titled FNAF 2, comes next. This time around, you’ll find yourself as a night shift security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which has just been opened. The events take place in 1987, four years after the fourth game. This installment also introduces some fresh animatronics to the mix.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location

Among all the games, the fifth one stands out as the most engaging when played sequentially as the third. Although arranging Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location within the storyline may require some careful consideration compared to the other titles, it contains a clue that connects to the closure of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza in 1987.
In Sister Location, you assume the role of a nighttime technician within Circus Baby’s Pizza Park. Your task is to endure the unsettling mechanical creatures that roam the area at night.
Five Nights at Freddy’s

The sequel to the original Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) game is the one you should play in chronological order. In this installment, you must survive five consecutive nights at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Remember, keep those animatronics out of your office under any circumstances. It appears that this game takes place after the second title and seems to be around the same period as Sister Location, suggested by the references made within it.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 3

The Horror Attraction, where once again, you find yourself up against those spooky animatronics. It seems like people in this world still haven’t learned their lesson about taking these kinds of jobs!

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted

The “Help Wanted” game fits seamlessly into the sequence of events depicted in other games on the list, making its placement a straightforward task. Whether you prefer to immerse yourself in virtual reality or not, this game offers another opportunity for you to assume the role of a determined security guard yet again.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

As a gamer, here’s my take: Next in line for me is diving into FNAF Security Breach! This time, I find myself as a kid named Gregory, ensnared within the vast expanse of Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex. Naturally, as the night unfolds, I must outwit those menacing animatronic characters to stay alive!
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2

In this follow-up to the 2019 VR game Help Wanted, you’ll find yourself back in the role of an employee at the Pizzeria, but this time as a fresh hire. You’re tasked with overseeing the establishment. This installment includes many popular minigames such as Bon-a-Bon and Fazerblast, where players can aim to achieve top scores.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic

In the newest installment of the FNAF series titled “Secret of the Mimic,” you’ll explore Murray’s Costume Manor as you unravel the enigma surrounding inventor Edwin Murray. By following hints to discover Fazbear’s original technology, you’ll encounter the shape-shifting Mimic that can mimic any character or costume and will pursue you throughout the manor.
