In the upcoming shooter game titled “Forest Reigns“, there’s a strong focus on both exploration and strategic combat. We had the opportunity to interview Valentyna Podmazina, PR manager at VG Entertainment, regarding various aspects of “Forest Reigns“, including inspirations and the game’s main environment.
How will S.T.A.L.K.E.R influence the game design and visual design of Forest Reigns?
Originally part of the team behind the creation of the groundbreaking game “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.“, we now wish to retrace our steps and produce an immersive, narrative-focused single-player adventure instead of multiplayer games.
In contrast to the gloomy, deteriorated, and industrial settings reminiscent of Chernobyl in our past works, we’ve chosen to create a world teeming with life, rich greenery, and vibrancy for our new project called Forest Reigns.

What’s the significance of a lifelike strategy for gunfights when confronting non-human adversaries?
Achieving realistic gunplay is significant for us, yet we also prioritize survival skills and adaptability equally. Although we meticulously consider aspects like accuracy, recoil, ammunition management, and the like when it comes to combat with other humans, dealing with non-human adversaries necessitates more than just raw firepower.

What other means will players have to interact with their environment aside from using firearms?
Indeed! One standout aspect of our game is the dynamic environment we’ve created. This living, responsive world is known as The Forest, and it has a unique ability to adapt to its surroundings. Should you provoke its hostility and lead enraged creatures towards your adversaries, you might find that nature does the fighting for you. Traps within the forest operate in a similar manner, though some may need a shot to be activated.
However, it’s important to remember that once you stir up its anger, you could also unwittingly attract its attention and become a target yourself.
Beyond just weapons, certain supplies, gear, and choices made during missions can also impact the Forest in various ways.
What prompted the studio to settle on Paris as the main location for Forest Reigns?
The vibrant history and culture of Paris create an enticing atmosphere for discovery and endurance. We opted for this location primarily due to its distinctive architecture, which beautifully blends cityscapes with untamed wilderness that has grown over time.
Furthermore, Paris is well-known as a tourist hotspot, making it familiar to many gamers who’ve visited the City of Light. They often find themselves recognizing real-world locations in our games and making comparisons with their actual experiences. It can be quite intriguing when playing a video game and exclaiming, “Wow, I’ve been there myself!
As a captivated admirer, I can’t help but express my excitement about Paris. Steeped in history and culture, it provides an enchanting canvas for adventure and endurance.
With the claim of a constantly shifting world, how weird can be some of the encounters?
In the realm of Forest Reigns, prepare for the unpredictable! This world is dynamic and responsive to your decisions, always ready to surprise you. One instant, you could be meandering through tranquil woods, only to find the scenery transforming into something bizarre and perilous the next, introducing new mysterious creatures and hidden threats.
In supplying you with necessary tools like gear and tips for scouting, gathering loot, and fighting adversaries, we ensure that each action remains captivating and distinct due to the persistent element of surprise.
How extensively does the survival system in Forest Reigns delve? Does it involve elements such as monitoring hunger and hydration levels? Is base construction a feature included in the game?
Even though there won’t be issues like hunger or thirst, resources will be limited, necessitating ongoing foraging for survival. Crafting is essential for survival, allowing you to create tools such as weapons, medical equipment, and other useful items, in addition to maintaining and upgrading your gear to prevent unexpected failures.
Instead of establishing bases, players can interact positively with factions, which will grant them access to their settlements.
Are there any plans to add multiplayer of any sort to the game?
Currently, we’re dedicated exclusively to creating an exceptional, narrative-rich, single-player First-Person Shooter game. At present, there are no multiplayer features involved in our project. But rest assured, if opportunities arise in the future that could enhance the gaming experience for our players, we’ll certainly consider it!

Could you share with us some of the main ideas or messages that Forest Reigns aims to express? How might the concept of a city reclaimed by nature, such as in this game, be woven into its narrative?
The title “Forest Reigns” beautifully resonates with our company’s vision: “We strive to develop games that push the boundaries of human understanding, sparking profound discussions on science, ecology, the bond between humans and nature, urban life, cruelty, and spirituality.” Our upcoming game delves into the strained relationship between mankind and nature, shedding light on the repercussions of modern civilization. We anticipate that upon playing “Forest Reigns“, players will develop a renewed perspective and a stronger sense of empathy and care towards nature.
Can we expect the game to be released this year?
We’re keeping this under wraps for now and will announce the release date when we’re ready.
Do you have any interest in bringing your game to PS5, Xbox Series X | S and Switch 2?
Absolutely! The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X are indeed in our plans, but as of now, there’s no Switch 2 on the horizon. We’ll make sure to let you know if that changes by sharing updates through our newsletter and social media channels.
