As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but be intrigued by the latest announcement from Devolver Digital and Skeleton Crew Studio. The reveal of their new game, Forestrike, has me utterly captivated with its beautiful retro-inspired pixel-art and a unique concept that combines tactical kung fu with a side-scrolling action title.
Recently, Devolver Digital has revealed the development of a new game by Skeleton Crew Studio, known for creating “Olija.” This upcoming game, named “Forestrike,” is categorized as a tactical kung fu experience.
With its appealing retro-style pixel art, Forestrike becomes an engrossing side-scrolling action game. Players assume the role of Yu, a skilled martial artist, as he sets out on a quest to rescue the Emperor from the clutches of a wicked admiral.
In Yu’s game, the primary mechanism is called Foresight. With this feature, you can simulate battles inside your mind, free from repercussions, before engaging in the real fights. Through experimentation, you’ll devise an optimal strategy for each upcoming encounter and then observe as it unfolds in action.
In addition to showcasing a roguelike design, Forestrike offers players the freedom to select among various movesets, each with distinct advantages and characteristics for customization. Take a peek at its unveiling video below.
Forestrike is in development for PC and Nintendo Switch. A release date hasn’t yet been announced.
