In recent times, WWE NXT has been filled with unexpected events. Tonight, one of the most stunning surprises occurred as a previous AEW performer made their sensational WWE premiere right smack in the middle of the broadcast. Lately, WWE has been actively courting several free agents, and tonight, we learned that they successfully signed one of the biggest from AEW – Mariah May. Her debut took place during a segment hinting at her role in the NXT Women’s Championship competition, causing the audience to erupt with excitement as the lights returned to show The Glamour was now part of WWE NXT. Catch the entire debut in the video below.
This transpired during what was intended as a festivity for the freshly crowned NXT Women’s Champion, Jacy Jayne. A week prior, Jayne stunned the world by defeating Stephanie Vaquer for the title, and she entered the ring alongside her Fatal Influence comrades Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx to flaunt her victory to the audience and commence a new championship era.
Despite an initial interruption, numerous prominent figures such as Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Jaida Parker, Lash Legend, Thea Hail, and others asserted their desire for a Title match against Jayne. This escalated into a chaotic fight outside the ring. Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and when they came back on, they were focused on no one but Mariah May.
She drew a substantial cheer from the audience, who recognized her instantly, and promptly signaled to the rest of the NXT Women’s Division that she was here to make her mark. May announced confidently, “I’ve officially arrived,” much to the crowd’s pleasure, and then asserted, “Ladies, ladies, feel free to address me as the next NXT Women’s Champion from now on, for the already exceptional women’s division has just become even more elegant.
Last week, it became public knowledge that May’s name was taken off the official AEW roster listing, usually indicating a departure from the company. Subsequently, rumors emerged suggesting May would make a debut soon, though few anticipated this happening within the upcoming seven days.
It was uncertain which platform she would first appear on. May could have been suitable for either Raw or SmackDown, leading to some discussion about where she would be featured when she eventually made her appearance. However, we now know that she will join NXT, and this decision seems appropriate given that NXT has recently lost several prominent figures from its Women’s Division to the main roster, with more reportedly on their way soon as well.
Over the last month, NXT standouts Roxanne Perez, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer have moved to both Raw and SmackDown, with Vaquer making her first appearance on Raw this past Monday. Perez is now part of the Raw team, while Giulia has joined SmackDown alongside the latest contenders for the Tag Team title, Fraxiom. It’s been suggested that additional call-ups could be coming soon, with Jordynne Grace and Ricky Saints as potential newcomers to Raw and SmackDown in the upcoming weeks.
Considering this, the arrival of May in the Women’s Division is certain to bring a refreshing boost, as she can effortlessly connect with our emerging talents such as Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, Zaria, Kelani Jordan, and Thea Hail from NXT. Moreover, her skills will also match up with Jacy Jayne, and it’s intriguing to speculate if she might form alliances to counter the numerical superiority of Jayne and her associates.
