Shuhei Yoshida, a previous executive at PlayStation and Sony Interactive Entertainment, has expressed his excitement for The Duskbloods, an upcoming Switch 2 game by developers FromSoftware, whom he has collaborated with in the past.
In an unexpected turn of events, the team behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne left everyone astonished when they revealed that Hidetaka Miyazaki’s upcoming project will exclusively launch on Nintendo Switch 2. To make things even more intriguing, this game is planned to offer an eight-player cooperative and competitive multiplayer mode, merging PvP (Player vs Player) and PvE (Player vs Environment) experiences.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at the fact that Shigeru Miyazaki, the mastermind behind the game, chose to make it an exclusive for the Switch 2. This decision, in my eyes, underscores Miyazaki’s unwavering confidence in the potential of the upcoming console. After all, following the phenomenal success of Elden Ring, which sold a staggering 30 million copies, Miyazaki could have easily partnered with any publisher. But he chose Nintendo, demonstrating his technical faith in the Switch 2’s capabilities.
Regarding the rise in prices for Nintendo games, Yoshida spoke about the increasing trend, with Mario Kart World being a notable starting point. He suggested that the higher costs associated with AAA game production and inflation are driving these price increases. However, he also highlighted $50 games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as an alternative approach, stating that it’s possible to create high-quality games with smaller teams and budgets without sacrificing quality. In his view, this could be a viable solution moving forward.
