After parting ways amiably with its parent company SEGA last year, Relic Entertainment, known for the Company of Heroes series and numerous strategy games based on licenses, has revealed its future plans. These include a stronger emphasis on publishing smaller titles and potentially re-releasing some games from their past collection as remasters.
Given the current state of the gaming industry, enthusiasts of strategic games with high quality can feel grateful that the studio remains active. Following its acquisition, Relic was compelled to reduce its workforce substantially in order to stay afloat. However, it has a supportive “outside investor” behind it. Company of Heroes 3 will still receive updates, and the team plans to create both smaller-scale, self-developed games and the larger, complex strategy titles they are known for.
