Former Staff Members from Annapurna Interactive Will Take On Private Division – Rumour

The initial team at Annapurna Interactive will transition into new roles within a fresh organization. Consequently, this new entity is set to assume control over Take-Two Interactive’s self-publishing imprint, Private Division, effectively incorporating it.

A few months ago, Take-Two Interactive revealed their intention to sell Private Division to a then-unidentified buyer. However, recent news from Bloomberg indicates that the mystery purchaser is actually Haveli Investments, an equity firm based in Austin, Texas.

Afterward, it appears that Haveli has delegated management duties for Private Division to ex-employees of Annapurna Interactive. This assignment includes upcoming titles from Private Division, such as “Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game”. Additionally, games like “Kerbal Space Program” and its sequel, along with an unannounced project by the creators of the “Pokémon” series, Game Freak, are among those that will be handled by this new company.

Haveli Investments, as of now, hasn’t released any information regarding the newly formed company, which combines staff members from Private Division and previous employees of Annapurna Interactive.

Previously, when Take-Two initially parted with Private Division, their CEO, Strauss Zelnick, described it as a strategic choice aimed at concentrating their resources on their major upcoming ventures. He emphasized that Take-Two’s strengths were more rooted in the AAA gaming sector rather than the independent market.

In November, Zelnick stated that we’ve chosen this strategic move to dedicate all our resources towards expanding our primary and mobile businesses for long-term growth. Our strength lies in delivering large-scale AAA experiences, and we possess some of the most significant intellectual properties within the interactive entertainment industry, as well as across the broader entertainment sector. Our goal is to produce sequels for popular franchises we already have, as well as create new ones that could become hits.

Many games have been launched under the Private Division banner since its inception in 2017. These span across diverse markets, ranging from indie hits such as OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome, to larger-scale productions like Kerbal Space Program 2 and The Outer Worlds.

Contrastingly, Annapurna Interactive faced a challenging year, as a significant number of their employees left the company in September amidst leadership disputes. Despite this, the company persists and has not unveiled any new projects to the public. There are reports that they continue to work on the game Silent Hill: Townfall, though no release date has been set yet.
