Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley Signs With All Elite Wrestling

As a long-time wrestling enthusiast with a soft spot for the underdog, I must admit that Bobby Lashley’s journey has been an intriguing rollercoaster ride this year. His departure from WWE and subsequent signing with AEW has sparked a sense of anticipation within the wrestling community, reminiscent of the excitement that accompanied John Cena’s move to SmackDown back in 2005.

2024 saw a lot of buzz about my future in WWE, especially on SmackDown’s midcard scene where I found myself struggling. The alliance with Street Profits managed to secure me a win against Karrion Kross and the Authors of Pain at WrestleMania 40, but that victory didn’t really shake up my position within the blue brand’s hierarchy. Post-WrestleMania, I only wrestled six matches in total, with just one making it to TV. Unfortunately, an injury forced me out of the King of the Ring tournament. As my contract came to an end this August, I decided it was time for a quiet departure from the company.

Bobby Lashley Signs With AEW

The All-Mighty is All Elite.

According to Fightful Select, it appears that Bobby Lashley recently agreed to join All Elite Wrestling (AEW), with his highly-anticipated debut likely coming up soon. Lashley, along with former allies MVP and Shelton Benjamin, signed their AEW contracts a few weeks back.

Previously, both MVP and Benjamin have already appeared on All Elite Wrestling (AEW) platforms. MVP initially emerged at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam in September, exchanging words with fellow manager Prince Nana over Swerve Strickland’s performance shortcomings. More recently, on the fifth anniversary episode of AEW Dynamite, MVP introduced Benjamin to viewers during a backstage segment. Additionally, he attempted to win over AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mon? by extending a business card to her during the broadcast.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got a hunch that Lashley might be the missing piece in this puzzle, the one that could bring back The Hurt Business in AEW. Back in WWE, The Hurt Business was an unstoppable stable made up of MVP, myself, Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander. We were a regular feature on Monday Night Raw during the pandemic times but we parted ways before live audiences came back. WWE hinted at reviving our beloved faction a couple of times, but they never quite sealed the deal.

It seems that a new group in AEW will be called “The Hurt Syndicate.” The main members are expected to be MVP, Benjamin, and Lashley. However, MVP has been showing interest in Mon?, which suggests he wants to expand the team. Given his recent confrontations with Prince Nana, it appears Strickland, a former AEW World Champion, might be a potential addition, as MVP has praised his skills as both an entertainer and athlete.
