The day has finally arrived – it’s time for Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3!
As an ardent Fortnite enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about the fresh wave of Star Wars-themed content that’s being added to the game today!
So, if you’re wondering what to expect when the servers go live, read on!
What changes in the Fortnite update today (2nd May)?
Previously noted, this latest development signals the beginning of Chapter 6, Season 3, which is called “Galactic Battle”.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 map changes
The Fortnite map has received a makeover, receiving four new points of interest (POIs).
In the game themed around Japan, titled “Vader’s Solitude: The Samurai Edition,” players will encounter a mini-boss modeled after Darth Vader that must be defeated. Meanwhile, the Millennium Falcon can be found at the Point of Interest within the Resistance Base.
Maybe less engaging are the First Order Base, staffed by Stormtroopers, and the Outpost Enclave, governed by the Rebellion.
New lightsabers
The classic lightsaber from Star Wars makes a comeback in Fortnite. Alongside the original features such as deflecting bullet shots and boosting running speed, you’ll also discover some thrilling new gameplay elements to explore.
Training with a virtual hologram of Rey can help players acquire a blue lightsaber, which enables them to employ the Force Push ability, pushing objects that are in your path.
Instead, those training under Emperor Palpatine get awarded the Red Lightsaber, allowing them to wield Force Lightning.
Additionally, if you’re longing for the Force Saber Throw from last year, don’t worry! You can battle the Darth Vader Samurai mini-boss and seize his lightsaber, giving you the opportunity to wield it yourself.
New weapons
If you’re not fond of lightsabers, the sixth season of the third chapter offers an impressive collection of seven freshly introduced blasters and three previously unavailable ones, all waiting for your exploration.
These new blasters in Fortnite are:
- DL-44 Blaster Pistol
- CR-2 Blaster
- ACP Scatter Blaster
- BARM-ST12 Scatter Blaster
- DLT-19 Blaster Rifle
- IQA-11 Marksman Blaster Rifle
- A280-CFE Blaster Rifle
- DC-15 Heavy Blaster Rifle (Unvaulted)
- E-11 Blaster (Unvaulted)
- F-11 Blaster (Unvaulted)
Like last year, all these blasters can overheat if you fire them for too long, so watch out!
Moreover, aside from our blasters, there’s also the latest Thermal Collapsar – resembling a grenade but instead of explosion, it creates a vacuum that pulls in and demolishes surrounding buildings (and opponents).
New bosses
We’ve already spoken about Samurai Vader, but he’s not the only boss available in this update.
In simpler terms, you can encounter Commander Captain Phasma, who leads the First Order’s Stormtroopers, at the First Order Base.
By vanquishing her, you’ll gain Captain Phasma’s F-11D Blaster and the Phasma’s Blaster Medallion as your reward. The medallion enhances the duration of your blaster’s continuous firing time before it overheats.
New vehicles
Maybe the most exciting part of the update (for us, at least) is the new vehicles!
Now, gamers can pilot the renowned X-Wing and TIE Fighter models within the game, firing laser beams at enemy vessels and unfortunate players who happen to be in close proximity.
New NPCs
During the entire season, fresh Non-Player Characters (NPCs) will appear intermittently, offering you exclusive weaponry and skills.
On the 8th of May, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Mace Windu will make their appearance in the game, followed by Chewbacca and his Wookiee Bowcaster on the 15th of May.
Additional features will be introduced on these dates: The Mandalorian joins the scene on 22nd May, a self-pilotable Star Destroyer is available from 29th May, and a live event on 7th June where you’ll face off against Emperor Palpatine.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 Battle Pass
In addition to the latest lineup of cosmetics and emoticons, this season’s Star Wars Battle Pass also boasts some amazing skin additions.
Absolutely, General Grievous steals the show, but make sure to check out the characters like Apprentice Evie, Poe Dameron, the Wookiee Team Leader, and Emperor Palpatine as well – they’ve got some fantastic costumes!
