Once more, we’ve reached the point in the week – it’s Tuesday! That signals another exciting Fortnite update has been released.
This week brings us update v34.40, which may seem small, but it’s laying the groundwork for the impending debut of Chapter 6 Season 3.
What new surprises has Epic Games prepared for us this week? Keep reading to discover the latest updates from this week’s release notes.
What changes in the Fortnite update today (22nd April)?
Today feels like a fantastic day for me, a cosmetics enthusiast! Excitingly, Epic Games is rolling out a plethora of fresh Outfits and goodies in the latest update, version 34.40.
The biggest addition is that we’re getting a bundle of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villain skins.
Instead of Shredder and Kang being the presumed characters for the upcoming skins, reliable leaker ShiinaBR suggests that it could be Casey Jones, Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang’s Robot Form, or possibly some combination thereof.
A fresh skin option that has been mentioned is the Fire Bride skin, which draws inspiration from actress Jenna Ortega known for her role on Wednesday.
A new Fortnite Crew pack will be released, bringing with it a new skin and a few cosmetics too.
According to ShiinaBR, there will also be plenty of older skins making a return to the Item Shop.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the Monk’s appearance is getting an exciting makeover! Moreover, there’s a possibility that we might see the return of two iconic skins – Hatsune Miku and the Psycho Bandit skin from Borderlands. Can’t wait to see them again!
Regarding gameplay, it seems there’s going to be a change in the competitive aspect, as sources like FortniteJPNews on Twitter suggest that the Business Turret and Shield Breaker EMP may be reintroduced (un-vaulted).
Fortnite patch v34.40 downtime
The maintenance period for update version 34.40 of Fortnite starts at 9 am British Summer Time. During this time, the game servers will be temporarily shut down while the update is installed.
The exact duration for this outage remains uncertain since various updates take varying periods to complete, yet Epic Games typically strives to restore server operation as swiftly as they can.
As stated by ShiinaBR, the estimated server downtime for this week is approximately 4 hours. This suggests that the servers should be operational again around 1 pm (British Summer Time).
