- The first Forza Horizon 5 update of the year is just around the corner.
- “Midnight Muscle” brings two new cars and returns some previous content.
- It also marks the beginning of revisiting past playlists, a first for FH5.
2024 saw Forza Horizon 5 wrapping up the year with a pair of updates, allowing the team to take a breather and plan ahead for fresh content in the new year. However, it appears that the strategy may not align perfectly with the community’s expectations, as Forza Horizon 5’s initial update in 2025 could hint at a change in direction for this beloved, enduring open-world racing series.
The latest Midnight Muscle update for Forza Horizon 5 reintroduces beloved neon-illuminated material from a previous event lineup, along with two brand-new vehicles. However, this update marks a shift in strategy for future event lineups. From now on, players will have the opportunity to choose between two past event lineups to revisit every month. This could indicate that support for Forza Horizon 5 is starting to transition towards new projects by Playground Games. But rest assured, the team has promised there’s still plenty of additional content planned for Forza Horizon 5 in the future, so it’s not time to say goodbye just yet.
Quite possible the final full update for Forza Horizon 5
If you’re hoping for a comprehensive update filled with innovative additions, user-friendly enhancements, and an expansion of the already extensive car roster in Forza Horizon 5, I must warn you that the Midnight Muscle update may not meet your expectations.
To put it simply, this update for Forza Horizon 5 doesn’t have much new content. The Midnight Muscle Festival Playlist reintroduces the extended night and neon-lit Evolving World features from past updates, but there are no unique features. Additionally, you can only collect two new vehicles: the 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R and the 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock.
Beyond this point, Playground Games has introduced two new elements, and it seems that the second feature signals a decrease in official support for FH5 going forward. The first update allows players to select their own opening cinematics from past events and Forza Horizon series, with a random option for those who prefer unexpected surprises every time they launch the game. Secondly, future Festival Playlists will no longer be unveiled by Playground; instead, the community will decide between two previously held past Festival Playlists, which will return the following month.
The first poll will be held between two options: the High Performance and Italian Automotive updates for Forza Horizon 5. This vote will take place during the initial week of Midnight Muscle and conclude in its fourth week. Each month, this process will repeat. It’s worth noting that the Playground team will adjust each Festival Playlist as necessary to reflect the game’s development over time. However, it’s clear that support for Forza Horizon 5 is gradually decreasing.
You’ll find information about the upcoming “Midnight Muscle” update for Forza Horizon 5 on the official website, Forza.net. The update is set to release on January 28th, with the Festival Playlist commencing from January 30th onwards.
It’s not completely over yet
In simpler terms, while Playground Games has confirmed that there will be additional content for Forza Horizon 5, the specifics of this new content are yet to be determined. However, it’s been made known that a past game mode could potentially return each month based on community votes (you can learn more about this on Forza.net). It’s also worth noting that Forza Horizon 5 is no longer receiving the same monthly updates as it did since its release three years ago.
In other words, Forza Horizon 5 might not introduce any fresh cars or updates; instead, it could focus on reminiscing about past times until it ventures so far back that only a new installment of Forza Horizon can reconnect us. This development needed to occur swiftly, given that Playground Games is likely engaged in the creation of an enigmatic sequel, which will share the same engine as Forza Motorsport (due for release in 2023). We’re eagerly anticipating more information about their plans later this year.
If you didn’t hear, Forza Horizon 4 has come to an end in a way unique to itself. The game is no longer available for purchase on digital platforms because its licenses have expired. It’s likely that Forza Horizon 5 won’t experience this anytime soon, but it may not receive the same frequency of updates anymore.
