2023 saw NBC’s gripping series, Found, captivate audiences and secure a swift renewal for season 2. However, the third season seems to be eluding us. As a devoted cinephile, I find myself engrossed in this show that follows Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) and her remarkable team, each possessing unique abilities, as they delve into the cases of missing individuals often disregarded by others. Concurrently, the series reveals the personal traumas that bind the group together, shaping their investigations in profound ways.
Season 2 introduced fresh characters and puzzles for viewers, many of which were resolved within that season while others were replaced by new ones. A few plot twists were left hanging at the end of Season 2, laying the groundwork for the storylines in Season 3 of Found, though it remains uncertain if these stories will be continued.
Found Season 3 Latest News
Found Has Been Canceled
It’s been confirmed that there won’t be a third season of the TV series “Found,” which airs on NBC. The show was unexpectedly cancelled by NBC prior to the season 2 finale broadcast. This decision follows a decline in viewership for “Found” during its second season.
Initially, the show premiered on Tuesday evenings during its first season and attracted an average viewership of about 3 million per episode (as reported by TV Series Finale). However, NBC decided to move the series to Thursday nights for the second season. Unfortunately, facing the strong competition from ABC’s Thursday night schedule, the show only managed to pull in an average of slightly over 2 million viewers per episode during its second season (also according to TV Series Finale). This substantial decline in viewership—approximately one-third of the initial audience—likely did not bode well for the network.
Found Season 3 Is Not Confirmed
Found Could Be Shopped To Another Network
Even though a third season of the show Found hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, there’s still a chance for fans to continue enjoying it. Warner Bros. is considering offering the series to other television networks and streaming platforms. While it’s unusual for a TV show to be rescued by another network, it does happen occasionally. For instance, Netflix took up Lucifer following its cancellation on Fox, while ABC picked up 9-1-1 after it was axed by Fox. Similarly, instead of being canceled, Law & Order: Organized Crime moved from NBC to Peacock.
Found Season 3 Cast Details
The Cast Would Remain Intact
The series, titled “Found,” revolves around Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) and her team at Mosely and Associates. This firm specializes in locating individuals who frequently slip through the cracks of official law enforcement. If we were to continue the storyline into “Found” season 3, it would be with the assurance that the core cast’s lives remained safe, as no cliffhangers regarding their fates were left unresolved at the end of season 2.
The life of a character named Hugh, also known as Sir, portrayed by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, was left in a precarious state. Throughout the second season, a man who had kidnapped a young Gabi was imprisoned, and it appears one of his adversaries has finally tracked him down, given that he sustained severe head injuries during the season finale. Prior to the cancellation of Found, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll assured fans that Sir would continue to play a significant role in season 3.
If Season 3 goes ahead, it’s probable that Parker Queenan will be promoted as a series regular, portraying Jamie. Margaret’s long-lost son resurfaced in Season 2, and working with M&A seems to play a significant role in his healing journey, much like it does for many of the main characters.
The main cast of Found season through would have included:
Found Cast Member | Found Role | |
---|---|---|
Shanola Hampton | Gabrielle ‘Gabi’ Mosely | ![]() |
Mark-Paul Gosselaar | Hugh Evans AKA Sir | ![]() |
Kelli Williams | Margaret Reed | ![]() |
Gabrielle Walsh | Lacey Quinn | ![]() |
Karan Oberoi | Dhan Rana | |
Arlen Escarpeta | Zeke Wallace | ![]() |
Brett Dalton | Mark Trent | |
Parker Queenan | Jamie Reed | |
It’s uncertain whether the actress who portrayed Heather AKA Lena (Danielle Savre) in season 2 of Found would reappear in season 3. Although Carroll expressed enjoyment working with her, since her character was arrested at the end of the second season, it remains unclear if she would have returned for further episodes.
How The Found Season 2 Finale Set Up Season 3
Found Season 3 Has A Lot Of Cliffhangers To Pick Up
It wasn’t until after filming the season 2 finale of “Found” that they realized it was the final season. Consequently, the season 2 finale contains many elements setting up events for a potential season 3.
Season 3 could have delved deeper into the enigma surrounding Trent’s familial connection with the police department, considering the hints dropped throughout season 2 about Sir possibly being in touch with Trent’s father and his questionable career dealings. This mystery was further emphasized when Sir left a message for the man in the season 2 finale. With Trent ready to relinquish his badge to aid Margaret in locating Jamie upon his second kidnapping, the third season could have explored this connection more thoroughly.
In a turn of events, Margaret and Gabi successfully located Jamie following Lena’s abduction, even though Jamie had already gained control over Lena. This shows that Jamie, having the skill to decipher encoded messages from his mother and Gabi, as well as possessing what we call “Margaret vision,” could have potentially been valuable to M&A in season 3, especially since Gabi might not have been present with them at all times.
The season 2 finale set the stage for further insights into Dhan’s past, which was intended to be delved into during season 3. However, the finale also hinted at Gabi facing consequences for her actions, such as being held accountable for her crimes. For instance, at her press conference where she announced Jamie’s safe return, she admitted to kidnapping Sir and keeping him in her basement for nine months. By making this confession public, she essentially made a formal admission that could be used as evidence for prosecution.
In season 3, it’s possible that Gabi faced court trials or was preparing for prison time, which would have created a rift between her and her team. The team might have had to manage cases in her absence or visit her during incarceration for consultation purposes, similar to how she consulted with Sir during the initial season of the show. This situation would have undoubtedly shaken up the narrative and provided an innovative approach to maintain the series’ intrigue.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’d anticipate that season 3 would persistently follow the “case of the week” structure, intertwined with the broader narrative of navigating the healing process after trauma. These individual cases would continue to shed light on the untold stories of marginalized and often overlooked communities.
