As a long-time fan of the witty and sophisticated humor that is synonymous with “Frasier“, I must say, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the trailer for season two! The return of Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) to the radio booth alongside Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe (Dan Butler) and Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin) feels like a warm hug from an old friend.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my excitement over the first official trailer for season two of the iconic revival, Frasier, the beloved spin-off from NBC’s classic sitcom, Cheers. In this new chapter, our dearest Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) is back in his element, nestled in a radio broadcast booth, joined by old pals Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe (Dan Butler) and Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin). This time around, the series promises to unfold primarily in Boston, yet Frasier and his son Freddy seem destined for a trip back to Seattle, where they’ll revisit the KACL offices, the site of Frasier’s radio show for 11 seasons during the original run. Although it seems we won’t see Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth) in this season, her presence in Boston leaves us with a glimmer of hope that she might make an appearance in another episode.
The series’ second season is set to debut next month. You can see the trailer below.
In the preview, there seems to be at least one mystery left unsolved: as of now, the character portrayed by Patricia Heaton, who is speculated to be a romantic interest for Frasier in their show “Back to You,” has not made an appearance.
In the previous gaming season, I found myself back in the shoes of Roz, played by Peri Gilpin, for a highly acclaimed season finale. The anticipation is building that this reunion could be a significant part of the upcoming season’s plot. Yet, it doesn’t seem like Frasier will abandon his position at Harvard or move back to Seattle permanently, at least not yet.
In the new cast of Frasier, Grammer plays the main role while leading the team. Jack Cutmore-Scott portrays the grown Freddy, Nicholas Lyndhurst is Frasier’s old college buddy Alan who is now a university professor, and Toks Olagundoye stars as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the psychology department at the university. Jess Salguerio plays Eve, Freddy’s roommate, and Anders Keith takes on the role of Frasier’s nephew David. David was introduced in the last season of Frasier as the first-born son of Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Daphne (Jane Leeves), but they have not yet returned to reprise their roles in the revival.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the revival of the iconic show “Frasier” is being brought back to life by none other than CBS Studios and Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions. This exciting project is masterfully crafted by Chris Harris, known for his work on “How I Met Your Mother,” and Joe Cristalli, a talented writer from “Life In Pieces.”
Frasier‘s second season will launch on September 19th, exclusively on Paramount+.
