Fred and Rose West drama Appropriate Adult with Dominic West and Monica Dolan added to Netflix

Due to “With Fred and Ross West: A British Horror Story” continuing to dominate Netflix’s streaming rankings, it’s clear that people are showing renewed curiosity about the chilling real-life crime case.

Taking advantage of the increasing fascination with Fred and Rose West and their criminal activities, it’s worth noting that the BAFTA award-winning series, “Appropriate Adult,” can now be streamed on Netflix as well.

In 2011, a two-part documentary, focusing on Janet Leach – the appointed adult present during Fred West’s interviews detailing his shocking criminal activities – was first broadcast on ITV.

A person who works without pay, named Leach, experienced a transformation in his life when he accepted the position as Fred’s appointed adult, a role mandated by senior investigators during a time when there was a concern that West might not fully grasp the court proceedings and the accusations being made against him.

In the series, Emily Watson takes on the role of Leach; she is recognized for her exceptional performances in shows such as Chernobyl, Apple Tree Yard, and Dune: Prophecy. Her portrayal of Leach earned Watson a BAFTA Award for Best Actress.

She will be acting alongside Dominic West (as Fred), Monica Dolan (as Rose), Robert Glenister (as DSI John Bennett), and Selin Hizli (as Mae West, among others), in the cast of Appropriate Adult.

In the official ITV description, the story revolves around the life of Janet Leach who undergoes a significant change after being requested by the police to serve as a ‘suitable adult’ for a man they’ve apprehended, namely the infamous serial killer known as Fred West.

Once more, a true-life incident has gained widespread attention, this time through the launch of Netflix’s series titled “A British Horror Story.” This production delves back into the distressing occurrences, primarily focusing on the experiences of the victims’ families and how the Gloucestershire Police managed to expose the crimes.

The documentary, according to Netflix, offers a glimpse into the long-term suffering and hardship that the families experienced over many years.

This three-part series, featuring exclusive access to unseen police videos and audios, will reveal how the Gloucestershire Police discovered the remains of 12 western victims, using this evidence to construct a case against them. This case ultimately provided closure for the families of the victims.

The show presents family members of certain victims (some sharing their stories publicly for the first time), offering a glimpse into the prolonged agony and suffering they endured over many years. This includes their initial shock upon learning that their lost relatives were viciously slain, the emotional turmoil they faced, and the remarkable resilience they demonstrated during the trial proceedings.
